    ……..back strapped in this case.

This is ONE of the straps on the nilgai I shot last night. It is untrimmed but, damn…..

I think there are about 50lbs of backstrap on that animal

Signs of use on a blade I made. Such a beautiful sight. As long as it's getting the job done for you, I'm a happy smith.
It absolutely hates nilgai bones. These are the densest bones on anything I have ever killed/processed. Guess an animal has to be engineered pretty tough when its number one predator at home is a 1000 pound tiger.

I just looked closer at the pic - is the cutting edge chipped? Do I need to re-grind it?

Nah, adds character.that is a shadow you see in the pic. There is a tiny chip that is probably the result of a dozen hard chops to cut through the upper leg bone, but blade was still sharp AF after the cutting.

Next big nilgai I will just go straight to the axe to break the bones.

Not a reflection on your work at all, your work won against an almost alien super beast .

OK, but if it needs it, I'll resharpen for you. Just hit me up.
