We had best not assume that the Republicans in congress will vote the way we would like if they think that they can pick up support by selling us out. I am 62 years old, and I have seen politicians sell gun owners out before. We need to keep on top of this and be ready to flood some offices with polite, respectful, well-written letters if it becomes necessary.
+1 on that! All it takes are a few Neocon cowards who are looking to suplicate the Brady bunch. The way things are headed, even if/when the Republicans sweep the white house in 2012 the current economic and social problems will only be getting worse. They (Repubs) may understand that now and realize they will get blamed if the Shumer really hits the fan after 2012 when QE2 hasn't worked. If I were a power monger who knew the masses were restless, I'd be the first to disarm the masses if I could.
In all reality, Socialist ideals and the elected who want to push them know that American will submit to socialism so long as it is a slow and subtle process. They've been working on it since 1913 and it's only getting worse.
So, he has ignored federal judges, the fcc has ignored congress, he signed a blatantly unconstitutional health care bill.... do you really think that he needs congress to do anything?
All he has to do is get some obscure federal agency, like the ATF to usurp power and make it next to impossible to purchase guns.

A Florida Federal Judge shoved obama's health care up his sitterdowner this week and the stabilized, sane voters will shove his try for the Oval Office also up where he sits down...His pet, Rahn Emanuel will likely be the next mayor of Chicago so he can run crying that the racists did him in and old Rahm will set him up in something to suit those of that nature, Chi Town seems full of that type..obummer and that other idiot , the so called attorney general, haven't the common sense to pour pee out of a boot with the instructions plainly printed in the heel, gun control, indeed !
You vote for who you feel best represents your points of view. I dont believe that we are anywhere near "pulling an Egypt", but since you brought that up. That is why you dont invest everything you have in one area.
this could quickly evolve into a prepper thread but I would have my money in hard physical items I can hold in my hand. Not that you dont put aside for your retirement and other normal expenditures, but you need to have a contingency plan as well.
You continue to hold the Repubs feet to the fire and make them follow through with what was promised...I forsee that the Repubs may have to get beat a few more times in a row before they believe that moving to far to the center is the answer. The Dems love the Tea Party in the sense that it divides "conservatives", but at some point the Republican party will have to get back to its roots or dry up and blow away.
Conservatives have no clear leader that can challenge Obama next year. Hopefully one will emerge but that hasnt happened yet.
My worst fear is Obama gets another term. Then you will see the full force of a socialist agenda fall upon us.
I do have some tangibles. Its hard to stock up for unknown though. I have about 1000 rounds of 223 and about 500 rounds of 40 HPs. I dont think this would help much in egypt right now. I would definitely not want bring guns out around a crowd of pissed people. Maybe just conceal a small one.
Food and water is probably the best bet in that situation. If everyone is pissed off in a mob theres not going to be many places to get food or water.

I like both but neither can beat Obama.
As far as being in a crowd...if you are in one your plan was shitty to start with. In my book, when you add a zero to those quanities of ammo you are in the ballpark of having enough.
It IS hard to stock up on the unknown, but if you study it can be done, (after all, playing the stock market is hard but you bet right everytime dont you?) If you can do that then you can do this.

Sorry guys, as to good or bad members of Congress........I don't trust ANY of the worthless, thieving, bastards Republican or Democrap. The only thing that will save this nation is a clean sweep in both houses of Congress. Obama did NOT cause the disaster that we refer to as our national economy. The blame rides squarely on the Senate and House and on us............. We let them get away with it.
Remember how they pushed the sweetness of FREE TRADE? Look what it brought us! Now we hear about national health care and sensible gun regulations. Don't we ever learn?

I still don't understand what's so hard to understand about gun legislation. Okay, so six people were killed in Arizona, perhaps we should make laws that make it illegal to shoot other people offensively. Oh wait, we've done that, and it still happened. Hmmm...maybe the criminals just don't care if they break the law. But wait...maybe they'll not use a gun if we outlaw them. Yeah right. Welcome to Obama's dream world.
