I found this article and gave it some thought. Warning, it’s long but has a lot of ground to cover. It white washes a few things and paints with too large a brush but I think it also has a lot of good points.

The 10 cent version is that guys and particularly white guys don’t play or have fun and living in a pressure cooker 24-7 can and does make people crazy. We also don’t have social groups or any buddies to hang out with and blow off steam. I can agree with all of those points. So here is it. I think it’s worth careful consideration.

Well if that's the gist of it, I'll save myself the click.

Stefan Molyneux on YouTube also has some great insights.

Another factor is the vegas shooter was shaped by living as a child with dysfunctional parents: a mother who had borne four children with his father who was a psychopathic man who robbed a bank and escaped prison to then be on the FBI 10 most wanted list. So there is that negative childhood experience that the shooter likely never took responsibity for healing from.

Also he was on Valium which may have released his inhibitions and "knocked the lid off of" his negative thoughts and aggressive fantasies.

But all this to take place over such a long time and with such deliberate planning? That just blows my mind.

I've also considered in this case the significance of the being completely removed from the victims and also the power structure aspect of being up above so high up to do the killing. Wreaking havoc and the power of destruction had to be a factor.

    Here is Stefan Molyneax's channel.
He has several videos about this so far. This is the first one he did.

Yeah, there is nothing to 'blame' it on. There are plenty of people in worse situations than this that do just fine.

I heard a quote somewhere that his brother was saying that finding a brain tumor would make the most sense for him in this scenario.

There are just factors to consider. Free will combined with evil is the biggest determinant that I can think of in figuring any of this. We can look at the motivation for the direction of the free will but that's still never any excuse.

Also lack of morality is obviously a factor. Also there is genetics.

Problem is this guy had some smarts. I can't think of another way to gain maximum carnage than shooting into a crowd at a concert. That's certainly the only time I can think of that's pre-planned where people are packed like sardines body to body for any length of time. No misses that way: for the time of the first few moments anyway, every shot is a hit. He played the odds in casinos for his living and seemed to do well, so he was familiar with weighing the odds. He's not any idiot, although he did make some big mistakes in his plan for sure, it seems. No chance for learning and a redo to "correct" those. Asshole. I have no empathy.

I resolved that issue by interacting with gun people and shooting more. That probably makes me doubly dangerous.

    Yep, Yep and Yep.
There has always been and will ever be these psychos until <insert religious verbiage that is verboten.>

If this guy is proven to be liberal, then all of his past upbringing could be used to justify his actions.

But if this is proven to be conservative, then he's just an evil white guy with a gun.

I wonder what pressures a wealthy, retired, self made millionaire is under...
Perhaps brain damage from a crappy childhood has made him susceptible to negative thoughts/ impulses that all that can't fix. Also bad genetics that led to mental illness. No morality taught with no acceptable make role model. He could have sought help easily if he wanted, if that was the case. A lot of people think that efforts to change/heal from such past experiences are bullshit. Thought he didn't need it maybe, because he could "take care" of himself, materially.

Maybe he was just an *******... Lots of people are! I believe that SSRIs could be linked to most mass shooters and that gives one pause to think.
. Not sure he was on SSRIs, this one.

Yes, lots of people are assholes, but lots of assholes don't do this. So that if why we look, even if we still decide there is nothing to be done.

    To All,

NANCY PELOSI was just on our local cable News Channel here in SA & stated that NOW is the time to BAN bump stocks & to reinstate the so-called Assault Weapons Ban.

Give the LEFTIST MORONS an inch & we will lose our Semi-Autos, too.

Yep, and why shouldn't she. The democrats smell blood in the water. The GOP and the NRA have already signaled their willingness to cave. Might as well capitalize on that to extract maximum value.

    SidewaysTA,

The FUDDS are just as much our enemies as the DIMocRAT liars are.

    yours, satx

    I don't know.
I qualified as a Fudd for most of my life.
Never felt the need for a modern sporting rifle.
Never wanted a hi cap magazine.
I just shot varmints like my dad and his dad did.
A couple of rounds kept the livestock safe in most instances.

Not once did I tell a friend with an AR15/AK47/etc, that they didn't need that. Not once did I support legislation or regulation that would deny them or me the ability to walk out of a store with what I wanted. Not need, want.

I may not have completely shed my "fudd".
But I certainly wish for and push for repeal of every infringement on our 2A rights.

Some of us old foothill rednecks and backwoods hillbillies are on track and know what's going on.
    I sure ain't your enemy.
    Ducks, bucks, quail, dove, coyote........
These are my prey. Not your rights to protection from government or evil doers.
