I am not familiar with the manufacturing process, but why is it that there is a decent selection of Kimbers everywhere, but I might see one colt 1911 a month?

Do Kimbers just not sell, have they figured out distribution? Or what?

Kimber is mass production and there are corners that have been cut in the current lineup of pistols. Time was a Kimber was actually a gun that's built just like a custom job, but not done to order. Now it's a little different... And they have well-known QC issues because of it.

Side note: it makes me laugh when a company sells something as "custom" when it's from a catalog.

    laugh how much?

like a lot? i mean - is it REALLY SUPER FUNNY - that custom thing

    or just mildly amusing?

More like when you have to laugh to keep from throttling someone for being stupid.

Custom means built to suit, and to order. It could even be identical to something you built before, but only because you got a request for the same specifications. Anything that's a stock item is by definition NOT custom in any way, shape or form.

i see the small things in life really bother you

Hrm. Such as a comment from an anonymous stranger on a public forum? Untwist your panties and chill out.

Unless you had your Kimber tailored made to your personal specifications during production, it can hardly be truly "custom." I'd expect that Kimber uses "custom" in the name of the gun to lead the consumer into believing they've purchased a pistol more special than it actually is. Surely you didn't fall for that clever piece of marketing did you? Perhaps you've now realized it and that's why you're selling?

Or do you also believe each Colt Combat Commander has actually been used in a firefight by a commanding officer of an Infantry unit?

Merriam-Webster (that would be a dictionary) defines the word "custom" as "1. (adj.) Made or performed according to personal order."

for somebody telling ME to get my panties out of a twist - you sure had a lot to say in "setting me straight"

i was poking fun at M. Sage's issue with the word itself.....all in jest....i think he understood that......perhaps you didnt

no - i'm selling it because i'm buying something else.....its a "take money from this one" to "help defray the costs of that one"

i hope you feel better after reprimanding me - i know i do! :)
