I sympathize; but, Texas’ large cities are filled with brainwashed young leftists.
I know, b/c several of the ’’highly-educated‘’ brainless commies ae my own Grandkids.
Multiple advanced degrees from prestigious institutions do not convey a bit of common sense.
My conclusions include the necessity of some matriculation in the “School of Hard Knocks” to avoid
hypereducated STUPIDITY.
”Oh, PawPaw; Marxism won’t be so bad, you’ll see!” from one who grew-up in Preston Hollow, attended the most expensive private schools, graduated from University w/ Honors, and is presently a ‘’reearch scientist” in Texas’ top Med Scchool.
Never held a job, never raised a Family, never balanced checkbook or a budget, never had a child, never ran a business, but knows it all. . . . . . .
Are We doomed already ?

<>To answer your question, no, we are not doomed. Not because of your grandchild among scores of other young collegiates who have yet to experience life except their idyllic wealthy upbringing think Marxism is the shit, but because Marxism doesn't fucking work at all except for the very small slice of elitists where it is practiced. For the 98% mass, it's absolute misery.....or worse. They haven't the slightest notion of the evil behind it or the misery it provides because they've never lived under it nor really understood or studied it.
I've always said the best thing for young and especially privileged and gifted or entitled folks who lean that far to the left and espouse the virtues of Marxism that has been force-fed them by their professors is to have them take a summer internship in Caracas, Bejing, Havana, or Pyongyang and actually study, live, and learn what it's like under such tyranny.
Most who enter the real world eventually wise up (with the obvious exception of a good amount of college professors who aren't really in the real world) which is why I say we're not doomed. But sending your grandchild to one of these leftist utopias with a one-way ticket would speed up the process and show them there are no Preston Hollows under Marxism, just dark gray misery.
Unable to understand basic FACTS if not leftist-sourced.
Seriously, give your grandchild a ticket to one of the locales I mentioned for Christmas, their choice. If they truly believe in Marxism, they'll be thrilled. Let them experience it firsthand. Would be the best Christmas gift ever because there's no better gift than that of knowledge and having your eyes truly opened to your own misconceptions.<>
Yes, of course; and we know that; but they don’t, and will wreck the World with their intransigent stupidity.
I spent most of my life in Academia, and I KNOW that those PissAnt ‘’Professors’’ are a bunch of arrogant morons.
But they are clever, convincing morons. . . . . .

We’ve been to Cuba during a very brief window that was opened to Americans about five years ago. We had a private guide who took us to the touristy spots. Absolutely gorgeous. Then, he took us for a glimps of the regulars in places they don’t want you to see. What an absolute shithole. Those poor people are living in absolute squaller, and I‘m talking as bad or worse than what’s shown in the “save the children” charity commercials. Oh, and the smell of raw diesel in the air that you cannot escape fromTo answer your question, no, we are not doomed. I don’t know about the licensing part. Possibly? My wife found him online, and I can’t imagine side hustles are easy with the communist govt looking over your shoulder. He was a college kid in his 20s. Just the wife and I, so we weren’t part of any group.Did your guide have a degree from the state school?
In addition to requiring a "license", most guides are required to be "degreed".
Most tours restrict tourists to limited areas outside the tour...though in very kind ways...think Disneyland when you dare to go off the path.
Place is a shithole and demonstrates well the fruit of communism. It also gives a chance to see how it creeps into the States.
