No sir! What got me to the doctor was I thought it was kidney stones. My guess you have heard about the pain related to those. Urine test proved no blood in the urine so I went for a scan. It showed an anomaly forming in my abdomen. They believed it was leakage of gas. After 5 day on the morphine drip the decide to go in. That involved gutting me like a fish & pulling out my intestine to look them over. Not an easy surgery to recover from. I'm just glad I didn't end up shitting out the side of my stomach.

I was asking what is "ask" meat?
See the part in red on my previous question.

…but I can’t east red meat for a while, and maybe anymore.

WTF is this shit, you ask?

I’ve been diagnosed with hereditary hemochromatosis, which means my body retains iron. Like, super unhealthy levels that could cause organ damage.

Never knew I had until the last year or so, very strange that it would manifest in my 50’s.

    There’s no cure.
Treatment includes regular blood-letting…seriously, its 2024 and this is the answer?

So now I’m sitting here wondering what the hell I’m supposed to eat.

It’s bad enough that I’m that gluten-free guy from CA. It’s celiac you MFers, another thing that manifested later in life.

    That is all.

I admit that I haven’t worked in nutrition & diet for a long time; but I note that “dietary restrictions’’ from both Physicians & Dietitians frequently are too strict & unreasonable, far in excess of what is appropriate for a given situation.

In my experience; in most cases, the restrictions are unreasonable. I cannot advise you specifically; but tell everyone that they need a good, basic COMMON SENSE Family Doc (NOT an ‘’Internist’’ or a corporate employee Doc).

    Good Luck !

My iron is way too high, donation centers won’t take it.

When I give, they throw it out.

Another challenge is that I don’t bleed all that much after the dust 50ml or so. Doc wanted my to give 500ml, took 45 mins just to get 75ml and I wasn’t gonna sit there all day.

So instead of giving blood every few weeks, I need to go much more frequently. Yay me

    Oh and this happened:
When my doc referred me to a blood specialist, they didn’t tell me it was at a cancer center. Imagine my surprise when I get a call from a cancer center asking when I’d like to come in…I was like WTF, I have cancer now???

Thankfully they also specialize in blood disorders. And I also don’t have cancer.

‘’Hematology-Oncology’’ is considered the same specialty in the USA.

Sorry to hear. Hope treatment works....

On an unrelated issue....Hey, Zod! How much blood would you need to get enough iron to make a wicked-looking steak knife? Asking for a friend.....

Quite a lot...and you'd need to separate a whole lot of carbon out of the bodies to alloy with the iron too, or you'll wind up with a crappy wrought iron "knife shaped object".

    Out here by the lake!
    Is the mystery word "elk"?
Only thing I could think of.
all No chicken, beef, veal, pork, lamb or goat. I would have ate wild game but I wasn't getting much hunting done after hunting Africa. My job & seasonal made going hunting impossible for 22 years except in Africa or exotics. Exotics cost about the same as Africa all including.

That sucks brother, hope y’all get it straightened out.

Have you tried multi day fasting followed by something like a Whole 30 plan? Kinda give the body a major reset then re-introduce foods and see what the body actually does.
