The elimination of Hamas, the Hezbollah shiites (and Iran), would result in a safer world for those who cherish freedom. Also, all these commie college professors who are brainwashing our youth with misinformation should be weeded out. They are creating campus hate groups comprised of students who don't have a grasp on reality but want to belong to anything that goes against the American perspective.

I read a news report having concern that there are still as many as 600 Americans still in Gaza.

So I have to ask why were there 600 or more Americans there to start with? And I propose that 99% of them are not “real Americans”…. So why should we care about any so-called “Americans” in Gaza?

And if any “real American” such as a news reporter etc. is dumb enough to be in Gaza, he is on his own as far as I’m concerned.

Can't do nice things for a culture that reveres and supports bloodthirsty barbarians.
There is "NOT nice" idea mentioned by Gary North (a Historian) in this longer but thought provoking article that I found years ago on the Libertarian site: Lew Rockwell.com. I will include the link as it is better and long read there:

Now, Slow Joe is asking for a "pause" in the Israeli effort to eradicate Hamas. When we bombed Horoshima and Nagasaki we didn't pause to ensure a civilian safe departure. We dropped the Hiroshima bomb, immediately killing 80,000 to 100,000 civilians. Tens of thousands more died later from injuries and radiation. War is horrible. Israel is at war. I also don't remember pausing before we bombed and burned villages in Vietnam. Civilian casualties are terrible, but they are inevitable in war.

There were several "bombing pauses" in Vietnam, with Johnson and McNamara thinking the communists would "use the opportunity" to see to their population and consider negotiating since the US was being so gracious. Instead, they did exactly what you'd expect - they shored up defenses, rebuilt SAM sites, and moved more Russian weapons in before launching new attacks.

You know, exactly like Hamas will if the Israelis are foolish enough to listen to the "cease fire" prattle. As if Israel hasn't seen how Hamas reacts to cease-fires before.

You might be right in some areas, but in 1966-67 in NW I Corps, we had no "pauses". We reacted to ground contact and intelligence and bombed the shit out of every perceived threat using FACs and FOs. I do remember Johnson halting bombing North Vietnam in 1968.

Everything I know about it comes from histories written in hindsight, but I'm pretty sure back in '66-'67 they were still treating it like a war they intended to win...the foolish bombing pauses came later, and it seems like every time they'd happen just in the nick of time to prevent the communists from collapsing.

Here is a video supposedly showing a hamas rocket attack on a car.
    It is very suspect
Nonetheless it's being circulated around as genuine

My son works as an engineer at a big defense contractor
He works in a wing with alot of engineers and weapons experts

Today at work they viewed it and many of them feel the video is AI generated and not real.
They could not determine that a projectile left the rocket and the back blast is not at the back of the tube..it's high and further back..very suspected

These "war " videos are meant to push a narrative and I'm starting to distrust many of them

AI will get so good that maybe one day we won't be able to actually know the truth
    Scary future

Just like the communists attacking on the holiday of Tet, radical muslims love attacking on the holidays of their targets. October 7th was actually two Jewish holidays, Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah. And of course the reason there was a Yom Kippur War in 1973 is that Israel was attacked on Yom Kippur.

When the Ukraine thread became too contentious and unwieldy, it was split in two. One new thread was dedicated to the politics, motivations, history, etc. behind the war. The other thread was devoted to hard news, i.e. where are the fighters and what are they doing? While some politics seeps into the news thread and vice-versa, the split has generally worked well.

The "Israel Attacked" thread has become just as contentious and unwieldy. I'm trying the same solution.

In this thread, feel free to talk about the politics of the situation and the history that led up to it.

I realize that in the Middle East, politics and religion are often the same thing. There is a rule against discussing religion on this forum and people should adhere to it. However, some small allowance will be made for acknowledgement of religious realities giving rise to political situations. This is not the place to assert you know what it says in the Talmud or the Quran and to point to that to make a point. Instead, a general acknowledgement that there are groups of people who hate each other and have occasionally done really despicable things to each other is enough. For the purposes of this thread, everyone will acknowledge that. Individual situations may be rooted in religion or may not but this is not the venue to tease out all the subtleties of the situation. None of us are scholars qualified to do that. Personally, I doubt such scholars exist; the situation is too complex for anyone to fully understand all the nuances.

And if those people do exist, they're too smart to waste time on T
