Which three handgun calibers?

If it must be 3 I would say it would have to be 9mm, .40, and .45...

No more 50 cal or 44 mag and my 22s don't count.

I just went through this same scenario with my ammo choices. I chose 9mm for cheaper plinking ammo (notice I didn't say cheap), .38/.357 due to it's versatility, and .45 just because.
