My instructor at Highlander in San Angelo suggested another variation - colored dots to incorporate target discrimination. Have the RO call the color for you to shoot. View attachment 31444

That works too. A target that tends to work better for that is something like this, that has different colors, shapes, and numbers. When someone is calling out targets, that'll really keep you on your toes! ;)

Ill be practicing tonight. Going to focus on just holding the gun steady in target. Might start keeping scope firing with my laser cartridge but just for practice. Recoil and the anticipation of recoil is an x factor at the range.

So using my laser cartridge...I shot 50/50 in the garage tonight. I surprisingly shot 5/5 support hand only.

    So...somebody is flinching anticipating recoil...

Sig!? Whats my solution? Shoot one dry fire five drill?

So if you know you're flinching/anticipating recoil in live fire, it means you need to get used to the recoil. Try doing some mags dumps at close range into the berm, like we talked about before. Go all out, balls to the wall, just keep the muzzle pointed towards the berm and don't go faster than you can follow through and return the muzzle back somewhere into the berm. ;) For you, that's probably going to be sub .20 splits, maybe in the ~.15-.18 area. Also, if you have a few hundred rounds to spare, do the Matt Burkett Timing Drills. Start off with the berm though.

I appreciate the suggestion. Strangely, I'm actually more accurate when I shoot between .5-1.0 splits than if i wait 1-2 seconds. Not sure if it's a strength issue, getting fatigued from holding the gun on target or if it gives me enough time to start thinking too much.

If I can't get out this weekend, I'll probably get out next. Hopefully I can post some better results.

I've been trying to dry fire for at least 10-15 minutes each night too.

For me at least, I find that to be the case. Sometimes it seems like, the harder I focus, the harder I try, the longer I take, the worse I do. Time, in that context, is sometimes more opportunity to second guess yourself, second guess the sights, etc.

    45/50 today

For fairness sake this was shot indoors so I couldn't draw from the holster so i started at low ready. I did however do the reloads.

Do you have enough mags and capacity to do the entire drill without reloading mags? Or do you drill the whole thing all at once?

50 rounds. So 17/17/16 I believe. You just have to make sure you have the right amount of rounds before you shoot each string. On the last one I usually have to split up my rounds 3 and 3.
