At a cafeteria type restaurant. There are 5 or 6 people ahead of you and a bunch in line behind. The person in line behind you is a uniformed police officer. You are carrying your pistol on a belt holster at 5 o'clock and it's covered by an extra long shirt worn untucked. You notice the officer is looking sternly at you and asks "Are carrying a gun?". What is the proper response to his question?

I might say, with a smile "is the Pope Catholic?" or "Is a pig's ass pork" or even "does a bear shit in the woods". ...Well, maybe not the pig one...



Edit to add; I would never carry at five o'clock.

Honestly, I'd read the facial expression, tone, and body language of the officer to determine my reply.

You realize that people have been legally carrying handguns for 21 years now? I'd say most cops became cops after 1996 when the law went into effect.

And five o'clock is too far back for a smooth, fast and safe draw, especially from concealment. I carry a full sized 1911 at three o'clock.

No, this didn't happen to me but I realized long ago that a lot of cops don't know the finer points of concealed carry law. I was arrested in a bar parking lot for carrying in a 51% area. EXCEPT the parking lot is NOT the damn PREMISES! But due to the cops ignorance of that fact, I spent a night in the Travis County "justice center!"

And, I cannot STAND Andrew Dice Clay! I also can get my full size SR-40 out pretty damn quick from 5 o'clock position. If I carried at 3 o'clock, it would look like a tumor growing out of my hip.

Gawd, I'm tired of reading or hearing the word "printing" as if it has some legitimacy in gun carrying, etc. Some people with their shirt untucked carry guns, radios, tools, cameras, etc., etc.
