I bought a pair of these last summer.
I think they work very well.
One of the guys at the range, who wears hearing aides gave me a hint to extend battery life.
He said to peal off the little tape strip from those #10 batteries and let them sit on the counter for a minute or two before you install them. Supposedly there is a chemical reaction that takes place, juicing up the cell.
I tried it and it works.
I don't know why.

I got these about a year ago and love them. They aren't cheap and I need to put more ear protection on when YG is shooting his 50 but they work great for everything else.

Good info, I have the Howard Leights, but they often get in the way, so I have been looking to get some electronic ear plugs. I'm just not sure I want to shell out over $300 for the Etymotics or the nearly $300 for 3M Peltors. $160, though also expensive are closer to my price range.

Another way to look at it is you could buy the $160 set for you and me, and still only spend as much as the Peltors.

I've read somewhere that these type batteries only last 20 days after they are opened up, regardless of the use.

Maybe. I'll try mine tomorrow. First set of batteries are still in them.

This may be accurate. I just got mine out and the batteries are dead. Almost exactly a month after initial install.

The yellow tab has to be removed prior to installation and use.
You can see the other side on the battery still in the packaging.

Yeah, I ordered a bulk pack recently. I figure I've got a couple year's worth on hand.
