“If used military m16s/ m4s were released to the public your full autos would still be worth big bucks? Most police forces only pay a few hundred bucks for used military rifles. “

ABSOLUTELY!!! They haven’t made my full auto K gun in 40 years. Even if they made M4/16s available to civilians the collectors will still pay a bunch.

And your business plan revolves around putting those firearms in stranger's hands for $20 a pop?

Dawico, if you think the NFA will ever be repealed you’re a mighty positive and trusting person. I for one am a billion percent sure the ONLY part of the NFA to ever be repealed in the future will be the part where Pre-1986 transferables can be bought and sold. One day the Dems will successfully get that part of the law revered. Trust me one day will happen!!!
And your full autos will become worthless.

Not the best long term investment plan in my opinion.

“...don’t try to compete unless demand is overwhelming in excess of supply.” ... Every single one of you, if given the chance, would GLADLY shoot full auto...

Been there, done that. Mag fed, belt fed, 20MM cannon, GAU-8. Mortars, arty, Stryker MGS. Rockets, missiles, bombs. The itch has been scratched.

The only time in my 44 years I’ve paid to shoot someone else’s gun was a cowboy action deal my son and I did about six years ago.

“...don’t try to compete unless demand is overwhelming in excess of supply.” Your comment is absolutely right. In this case there is no debating that fact. Every single one of you, if given the chance, would GLADLY shoot full auto. This is for certain. The only question is “at what price and at what convenience”?

NOPE, been there done that don't need to do it again. It didn't cost me a penny, Uncle Sam and a Police Dept provided the toys and ammo. Would I do it again, maybe. Would I pay to do it again, NOPE.

Somebody brings out an Anzio 20mm....then I'd pay to get behind the trigger.

Only NFA item over $2k I have any real interest in.

    Yep...

Majority of people on this forum are middle class, conservative, and probably have friends or acquaintances with full auto guns. Not really the target market.

The type of person who would rent full auto stuff is probably not into the gun culture, is loose with their money when it comes to entertainment, and has plenty of it to be loose with.

So, any range that would allow someone to rent out their personal FA weapons, for profit, would probably be held to some liability in the event of an accident, no?

When a 6’2 300 pound dude violently mortar clears your jammed transferable M16 for the first time, and does it do fast you can’t stop him, you’ll understand why renting a transferable is a really bad idea.

922(o) samples aren’t worth anything, so as long as they don’t damage the gun, it’s no sweat off your back.

The majority of the folks wanting to pay to rent an MG are not serious shooters... it's like tourist traps. The locals may go there once in a while, but the business is in tourists. I would NOT want any "tourists" playing with transerrables. If you charge $50 a person, you're looking at roughly 600 people before the cost of a Colt M16 comes back to you. Factor in insurance, gas, time, and other expenses and it's well above that. Even if you said $100/person then put inflation into the market. That's roughly a person a day at $100 just to make enough to re-buy that Colt M16. Out of 300 people, I'll bet money that at lease one of them is going to do something very... very stupid.

Everyone rents posties for a reason... they aren't nearly the same value as a transferrable.

If that's what you do, I won't try to stop you. Also keep in mind the insurance side of it. Both for you, and if someone sends one over the berm and kills a cow, or puts a hole in a house that's most likely coming back on you with a vengeance. A range could very well charge MUCH more as you're making money off their facility, not just having a good time.

This is not a crazy idea, I know a few 07/02s that do this for side money. They work with ranges directly to advertise and gin up interest in the event. The range doesn't charge MG shooters range fees but instead takes a cut of the proceeds from the shooting.

They work it a number of ways but it all boils down to a split between the range and the "MG Promoter" using the range. It is a draw for the range (most don't have MGs or at least not the ones being shot) and represents zero wear and tear on thiers if they do. Done right, it can be profitable for both parties, especially if the MG promoter loads ammo and is banking that on top of the per magazine fee split with the range.

Not a single one of them use thier personal transferable guns for this type of work.
