According to HRC I believe we all here fit the deplorable moniker.Besides - Dan is deplorable.
If you're a responsible gun owner and don't get into people's faces about it then why would anyone assume you're a member of OCT? I'm still failing to see how they make "the rest of us" look bad except to the very people who already don't like ANY gun owner.Responsible gun owners who don't act like an ass, and pick fights for the sake of a fight.
Yes, it's a shame that our legislators behave like petty children because someone dared to disrespect them.OCT almost lost OC in Texas due to similar tactics.

.
I disagree and find it sad that too many on the "pro-gun" side are willing to crap on other on our own side because they choose to assert their rights.
In this and other threads you got people saying things like "they should dress better," "they shouldn't be so rude," "they should just comply."
While I may not choose to do what some of these people do, I'll never hate on pro-gun individuals exercising their rights. More people need to practice exercising their rights, anyone unwilling to do so when it is relatively easy is very unlikely to do so when it becomes difficult.
"Our side?!?" Sorry, but these self-serving idiots are not on "our side." Grisham has a record of instigating encounters with cops, and crying like a baby when he is rightfully arrested. OCT acted like morons when open carry was being considered by the Texas legislature, and almost got the bill killed. Both are highly detrimental to a lot of people's efforts to advance gun rights in this state.
Join them if you want, they're always looking for more clowns to be in their circus; but one of these days their antics are going to land them into some very serious trouble and as always, they will be blaming someone else for it. And when that causes us to lose those hard-won rights you will know exactly who you can thank!
Betas betaing about other beta's beta behavior.Because they make gun owners look like buffoons. And that means their actions affect non-gun owners opinions of ALL of us. Contrary to your opinion, all non-gun owners don't have a negative opinion of all gun owners. But when dickheads like those guys make a spectacle, and generally offend sensibilities, it affects those people's opinions about all gun owners.
There's always going to be someone somewhere acting a fool. Lay the blame of constitutional carry not passing on the legislators that got upset because they were disrespected and decided to "punish" us common folk by not passing it.We got close to constitutional carry.
Then, Grisham and company struck.
OCT almost lost OC in Texas due to similar tactics. Don't assume they aren't destructive. They only serve as fodder for the antis, don't give them the ammo!

...or maybe they were never going to pass it to begin with and just used it as a lame excuse.
The legislature are the ones who have total control over the process. They should know that a vocal minority does not represent the majority. Apologizing for them legislating to the lowest common denominator is how we got these restrictions placed on us in the first place.Don't blame the legislature when these clowns were idiotic enough to publicly demonstrate how immature and irresponsible gun owners can be.
The Alamo Heights City Council unanimously repealed an ordinance Wednesday that prohibited anyone other than an authorized police officer from carrying a loaded rifle or shotgun on public streets.
The local ordinance came to light late last week after CJ Grisham, the president and co-founder of Open Carry Texas, was tased while being arrested at a small gun rights demonstration in Olmos Park. Two other activists also were arrested.
...
Both ordinances in Alamo Heights and Olmos Park were in a clear conflict with state law, which allows individuals to openly carry a long gun without a license. Texas also prohibits municipalities from pre-empting state law by regulating the transfer, ownership or carrying of firearms.
Yeah.....because TSRA has been such a driving force for OC over the years.....
OCT and Texas Carry put OC in the public eye long before TSRA jumped on the wagon. And I don't see TSRA pushing hard for CC in this upcoming session....
That is the way I see it. I don't think open carry was really on many people's radars till CJ's situation went viral. I'd argue that if it wasn't for OCT bringing more attention to it there wouldn't have been nearly as much pressure for the legislature to do anything about it.

Well another San Antonio area city repeals its unlawful ordinance.
In fact, he was wrong in the belief that a peace officer wasn't allowed to disarm him. That is clearly stated in the Government Code. If he wants to be a self-proclaimed champion of a cause, then he should have a better understanding of the current laws that apply!
(a) A peace officer who is acting in the lawful discharge of the officer's official duties may disarm a license holder at any time the officer reasonably believes it is necessary for the protection of the license holder, officer, or another individual. The peace officer shall return the handgun to the license holder before discharging the license holder from the scene if the officer determines that the license holder is not a threat to the officer, license holder, or another individual and if the license holder has not violated any provision of this subchapter or committed any other violation that results in the arrest of the license holder.

Oh yes, "reasonable belief" is so clear. Pretty fortunate for officers that they rarely have to justify or articulate their "reasonable belief" to any higher authority.
