This isn't the only confusing thing that's arisen because of the difference between the mobile interface and the "full" web browser version. I think I'm going to have to install Tapatalk and use it for a while so that I'll understand things better when I get questions.

I should also take a look at whether the web side automatically includes my web sign on TapATalk posts.

Geez, I wish I could have stopped you on traffic when I was on patrol. My pen was mightier than any POS's mouth. You don't want to be cuffed, more fun for me. You'll take me to court, great, more OT for me. I always approached the stop with the mantra - I am as nice as you allow me to be.

This^^^... Is how the hate against law enforcement is earned...

Don't get me wrong, I am 100% for law enforcement; but when they act like this I don't feel so sad for them when their shenanigans catch up to them.

And here's the answer; simple fix is remove the TT signature line.

So when someone acts like a POS on a stop the LEO is suppose to do what? I had great leeway in what enforcement action I could take where I worked. All of it was legal and just and when I was sued they lost.

So you support LE 100%? I call BS. So Spain it to me, when someone is an asshat on a call or a stop what exactly would you do? You know why there are so many a..holes in the world? Because people let them get away with it.

So you were using your position to punish people for being "asshats", "POS", and "a..holes"?
I can't find those listed in the Texas penal code.

True story - I cite some guy for exp reg. on his boat. I took the lesser of several charges. A month later, I buy a gun online and look for a FFL in my city. The FFL worked out of his home and we complete all the paperwork and he goes - You cited me a month ago for expired tags. We laughed. I bought a few more guns from him and even went out to dinner when he had a new date after his divorce.
Are you implying that you used to break the law if people offended you or hurt your feelings?

To be honest, that sounds like the actions of someone that would've been a thug if the government hadn't given them a career.

Please forgive me if I'm misinterpreting your post

Have you ever heard of the Golden Rule?
Yeah, but I feel like it might've been taught differently at my Sunday school.

Wasn't it "do unto others as you would have them do unto you"?

Where are you seeing "don't make my job difficult by following the law or I'll violate the law of the land to soothe my ego"???

You seem to misinterpret a lot of things. You also like to imply a lot of things. You seem stuck on feelings, are they really that important to you? You don't spend 25 years in 4 different agencies and send people to prison by being a thug.

Maybe if you'd make clear statements that wouldn't happen.

You are making a lot of intentionally vague statements

To answer your previous question, and to bring the thread back on target:

"the LEO is suppose to do what"

The LEO is supposed to be a professional.
They are supposed to be a reasoning, thinking, adult.
They should be above trying to harm someone, be it legally, physically, or monetarily, just because the person annoyed them.
They should abide by their mission.
I think that they should do their duty.

If you call a doctor a moron, cuss them out, or act like a jerk in the emergency room, what do you think happens?

The fact that you think it's even a question speaks volumes about your character.

Any person that values their own frustrations and attitude problems more than the laws of Texas can feel free to move to California.

Of course there you are once again simply misrepresenting what the person said.

Their duty is to enforce the laws. They have the ability though to show compassion. When as was outlined in the story the officer selected only the least onerous of the possible violation to cite based on the officers perceived understanding of the charged persons behavior it is simply doing his duty. If the person behaves like a pimply sophomoric fool and the officer adds on those other violations he had been willing to ignore then he is still just doing his duty.

It is the pimply sophomoric fool not understanding it is HIS behavior not the officers that is the issue.

So I'm misunderstanding his post saying he wish he had the opportunity to pull me over?

Are you saying I misinterpreted this post:

It seems to me that Sharkey was fairly clear in stating that he would cause problems for people based on their attitude alone.
That's not in the Texas penal code.

    Are you sure?
Which story are you talking about?

    Please quote that story

Please re-quote the last post I made and bold the sections where you think I'm wrong or misinterpreted something.

Pharmaco has a point. Sharkey did say he would treat people differently based on how they acted toward him.

All of us should be above that (granted, that can be easier said than done at times). Whether a LEO or simply in industry dealing with someone acting like a jerk.
Anyone can have a bad day. Every one of us has acted like a jerk at some point in time. How would we want to be treated?
