I've been off the air for many years since I sold some of my equipment but my neighbor loaned me his extra handheld (VHF/UHF) last week since he got a new one. I've gotten it to where I can bring up the local repeater, 146.79-.19. I have yet to hear anyone on this Kerr County repeater since I got this handheld. :(

This site keeps a pretty comprehensive list of repeaters by city and county. Lists them with call, frequency, offset and tone.

The Democrats haven't thought this through. Unless there's more than meets the eye here, they too are at the mercy of FB, T-wit, etc., and the Big Tech oligarchs are just as capable of shutting down Dems without recourse as they have done to the President.

Lie down with dogs, get up with fleas.

They should not assume that Big Tech hasn't acquired a taste for power that will exceed their own in the near future if not now...
The majority of them are just useful idiots. Even most of the ones in congress.

That said, it’s not always bad to have a pessimist standing by to point out all the ways something can fail. Those people are often great resources to check yourself against and determine whether or not you’ve overlooked a fatal flaw....

Even a hardcore optimist can train themselves to naturally and habitually run through mental FMECA (failure mode effects & criticality analysis) excercises...

Pessimists will often give up or go "doom and gloom" at every perceived significant failure mode, whereas an optimistic perspective (or at least steadfast) lets one treat them as problem-solving opportunities.

I would agree that the tech bosses are liberals, but I’m not sure they are the same people running the parties. Or that their interests will always be the same. Tech has just showed they can shut a President down. Why would they be afraid of a Pelosi or a Schumer.
They are running in the same direction. Why would they put barriers up?

All RF sources can be geo-located fairly easily, even mesh networks, which are resilient if a station drops off line. Digital packet transmission has come a long way and brevity/code words are easily broken or deciphered. Trunk encryption can help from a security standpoint, but given the right attention from the right agencies can be defeated.

They WANT a war. They wouldn’t want that unless they thought they could win it.

I don’t want a war. We need to creatively outflank them and try to avoid it.

Or maybe they want you to THINK that we know that they can win, so we don't give them a war. There is no "outflanking" these powerful assets. The only way to even TRY to win, IS a war. The longer this supposed war takes to kick off, the least chance we have at winning it.

Good idea. But, we could still use the USPS, even if the did go straight up socialist or communist. Mail is still sacred, and private. We would just need to hide it plain sight sort of method. Printed newspapers, or newsletters would need to be mailed inside of an envelope.

How abou TGT folks get on air sometime. Unfortunately my HF mast and antenna got destroyed in the shed fire and I need some muscle to remount the mast, but my UHF rig works fine. KG5GYL
I am thinking of dusting off the packet radio setup and firing it up again. It's probably as close to Internet as we can get on the air.
And, if you were a bit closer, I would be happy to come help with the antenna project.

Yes, we use that. It works pretty well when your mailbox is four miles away and you want to know if it's worth the jaunt...
