    Overrated?

Another is the Beretta 92. Made popular because it was selected by military (M-9).

The 92 series is fantastically accurate, has better QC than CZ or modern SIG, and have better, more consistent triggers than any other DA/SA auto. Plus they are much cheaper than SIG.

Its hard to claim they are overrated when probably 75% (at least) of people don't even know what DA/SA is, much less how to shoot it well.

    And did I mention Glock?

There sure is a lot of Desert Eagle crime up in here…well...not everyone can handle a big block under the hood either…

It is hard to say a Glock is overrated. It is probably the most carried and bought firearm in the world.
The 1911 is also another firearm that gets a lot of undue criticism. How can a firearm that has been around since 1911, fought in most of our World Wars, Korea, and Vietnam be considered overrated? Every gun manufacturer makes one these days because the public wants it.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Thank God we have such a large variety of firearms to choose from

The Glock and the 1911's are not over-rated per se by themselves, but the fanboys in each camp, that spout off about all their greatness, while never ever speaking of their faults.

If such were true, if one listens to the fanboys, then there would be no market left available for other brands or types of pistol on the market.

Both are great pistol platforms, but like anything in life, they both have their pros and cons.

For many years, lots of guns were over-rated IMO, because of the gun magazines. The days before the internet, gun forums and YouTube, most gun owners only got their gun information from magazines and many times first hand experience, either good or bad. Most of the magazine writers reviewing guns were simply paid shills for the advertisers of the magazine, so they would write glowing reviews of the guns they tested to get people to buy them.

In current times, we don't have to rely simply on gun magazines to get information on guns as the sole source anymore. There are blogs on the internet, YouTube and gun forums where people are posting their own experiences with guns that we can gain information from when considering a particular gun. Most of the time, it's at least unbiased opinions because no one is being paid to say good or bad about the guns. Another aspect, is a person can ask questions about a specific gun they are interested in.

    Gunz are icky.
    I've rethought this one.

I'm going to say Colt Python. I'm speaking of the original guns here not the currently produced versions.
    Yes, it's a beautiful firearm.
The ones I have shot were all very accurate.
    The triggers were superb.
But......they couldn't handle sustained use of full power .357 ammo.
Every one I have owned(total of four different guns) got knocked out of time using 357 ammo in them.
Getting them repaired was a pain. Mony months of downtime.

What they are is a glorified .38 Special.
In the end nothing more than a six-shot .38.
    They're heavy too.
Extra care must be taken to protect the royal blue finish. No holstering or it became scratched.
    A range toy really.
Nowadays people are asking absurd prices on them so that makes them even a worse choice.

    I think I'll stick with the old M27 S&W.

Glock. In the final analysis its still just a handgun.
The Judge was certainly over-hyped, but no one with any sens rated it very highly

I'll disagree to a point. The Glocks themselves, are not over-rated, except by the Glock fanboys. As modern pistols go, the Glocks are just one out of many that perform the job they were designed to do, and they do it quite well. But a person could insert just about any other brand of modern pistol, that performs just as the Glocks do.The Glock fanboys are what have over-rated, and over-hyped the Glocks. They tend to think in terms of the Glocks are the only reliable pistol, or the end all, be all pistol on the market that a person needs, or should have. And you look closer and study the Glock fanboys, you will find most of them are simply idiots to begin with.

I won't argue, except to note that the phrase "Glock Perfection" came from Glock and certainly didn't discourage the fanboys.

It's simply a marketing slogan and nothing more. Glock was one of the first on the market at the time with a mass-produced polymer pistol.

And yes, the Glock fanboys flocked to Glocks and spouted off that slogan at every opportunity, to justify their buying a Glock. As I said, look at the fanboys, and I'll think you will find most of them are idiots to begin with.

And even though I love the 1911 platform, and have for almost forty years and have owned more than few 1911's over those years, I have no use for 1911 fanboys either. It's great pistol, but it's still not a be all, end all by any measure. Frankly to be honest, there is no pistol IMO, that has ever, or will ever attain such a level of being a, be all, to end all pistol.

I like my Glocks because they are a basic reliable firearm as are many others. I just happen to be able to shoot the 19 and 21 very well now. I carry these most of the time. But I own many others as well that also shoot very well and also have some looks about them. My wife calls them my dress guns. The most overrated handgun is the one some idiot is droning on and on about with half truths and lies. Doesn't matter the caliber or manufacturer.

Well said sir. I am in complete agreement.
