DPMS LR-308 AP4. Gen 1. I have had many nice AR-10 type rifles since, but none of them shot as well as that one did. It would put cheap Remington core-loct through the same hole everytime.

There are a few... the one that hurts the most is a Colt Diamondback in .38 Spl that I bought from a gunsmith friend back in 72-ish, for the princely sum of $60. It looked new... Colt Royal Blue... just gorgeous. At the time I was a broke newly married idiot, and got to needing money for some piddly thing, so I sold it back to him for the same $60. :banghead:

    Gunz are icky.
I did eventually get this one back but it was trashed.
Way back when I lucked into an early production Ithaca Hawken .50 rifle.
This was a very early gun produced by Cherry Corners who was a sub contractor for Ithaca. Rare is an understatement.

fell into it by miracle. When I first purchased it it was in perfect condition.
Shot it for a while when one of my reenactor buddies got the fever for it.
He threw me an insane offer for it so off she went.
    Years go by.
Always regretting letting go I told him I got first dibs if he ever wanted to sell it.
One day his wife calls me. He had passed away suddenly and she was selling his belongings and the rifle had a note attached to sell it to me.
So I went over and purchased the rifle back. Sadly he had Bubba’ed it.
I fixed what I could. She sits in the safe to this day.

    Ruger SBH, .44 Mag, 7.5".

That's the only gun I have ever sold. I got it cheap when I was 19 and before I could shoot 50 rounds out of it one of my hanging-around-the-pool buddies at my apartment complex offered me a substantial profit for it. I only had it for a couple of weeks.

I've wanted it back ever since.

The only gun I ever had that had any meaning to me, and I got it back. It is a Colt OP, 38 Special. It was the Dept issue and the first revolver I ever shot. I carried it for about 4 years until the Dept changed to S&W 64s in 1978, and I bought it for $65. In 2005 I sold all my gun stuff to a guy I served with in Vietnam. I had moved to Hawaii in 2002 and didn't want to take anything with me when I sold my house in San Antonio. He moved back to Minnesota to take care of his parents in 2006. He gave OP.l.JPG the revolver to an acquaintance and forgot about it. I moved back to Texas in 2014. Our unit was planning a reunion in 2017 in San Antonio and he was going to attend. I asked him if he still had it and he told me he would try to get it back, and he did.

Got to thinking on this a tad more, and there are three more I'd add:

My Browning Hi Power Mk III, the first CZ-75 Compact I bought, and the Smith & Wesson model 19 that I traded a Sig P226 for, in order to give it as a gift.

I stupidly sold my Hi Power in one of the "if I'm not gonna carry it, I don't need it" phases. I carried that gun just a couple times, it was just too damn pretty with the blued finish to risk screwing it up. I was a tow truck driver at the time, and carried IWB. Between sweat, and rolling on the ground to hook up cars or get them out a ditch - it would've trashed that gun in a hurry. Hi Powers are one of the best shooting handguns in my hands.

The CZ-75 Compact and the Model 19 were both given as gifts to a man who turned out to be the biggest piece of shit I ever had in my life, and both of those guns he wound up giving away to other family members with substance abuse issues after I cut him out of my life, and the lives of my wife & son completely.

bought a case of SKS rifles (when I was an FFL) sold them all at a profit of $15-$20 each. paid a small fraction of what they sell for now, should have kept one !

6-1/2" M-25-2. From Factory (I was first owner), 1:10" twist rifling, SA only.
I have a M-14 SAO so I know what you mean. Every SAO S&W I've ever held has had a wonderful trigger. They clearly put some extra effort into those special-order/limited-run SAO revolvers, even if they theoretically don't. Or maybe taking out the DA capability just does something that I don't understand.

Either way, those things are sweet. I don't blame you for missing it.

6" Colt Python, blued, sweet trigger...sold it in a moment of weakness about 20 years ago.
Now it would be worth 5x what I got for it back in the day. Hope I learned something valuable.

Had a gentleman bring in an Norinco SKS (he called it an AK) on Tuesday.......wanted to sell it to me....

Had one of those cheap TAPCO folding stocks, (scratched all to hell), aftermarket rusty 30 rd magazine, a scope mount (cheap) had been welded to the rear dust cover, cheap 4X scope with missing adjustment caps and cloudy glass...

It was a post ban with the bayonet mount cut off........

    Told him I wasn't interested.......

    He wanted $500.00...........

Original Pre Ban in good shape....he's in the ballpark for retail.................

I've shot a little bullseye with revolvers but I never mastered thumb cocking for timed and rapid. I used to shoot the first shot single action and the next four were via trigger-cocking. Kudos to the folks who can do it; I'm just not that coordinated.
