Found him when he was a couple of weeks old. Was at work and heard coyotes feeding on some cats and he came out of the tall grass stumbling like 3 week old kittens do when they try to run. A coyote stuck his head out of the grass as I was walking over to get him and when I picked the little fuzz ball up, he promptly bit the snot out of me.

Over the next 18 years I saved him from dogs 3 more times, getting the snot bitten out of me each time.
Once a year for vet check ups getting him into the crate I would get clawed pretty good or bitten. Guess he always associated me with getting eaten by canines.

This morning was his last trip to the vet. He had a thyroid imbalance we were treating ( and by we, I mean Mrs. Hoji, who he absolutely loved) and kidney failure.

He was always a tiny cat with his maximum weight being about 8 lbs, and on his last trip a few weeks ago he was down to 5 lbs.
He is also the last of the original pack( ,Rudy Ray, Spit,Squeaker ( cats) Hoji, Loki, Mindee,Geta,Tabu and Inu.

Hope to see you again you fuzzy little prick. I will miss you.

As much as I am a dog guy I am also a cat guy. I grew up with many pets and still have several. They are my company that I usually prefer. Sorry for your loss.

When an animal is part of your family seemingly forever it is truly a sad loss.
We had a Scotty Terrier that when mad at my Mom or Sister would seek me out and bite me on the leg

@Hoji, sorry to hear about your Marvin. He looked like, and reminded me of the black and white cat we had named Sylvia. We had her for over ten or eleven years. She too would bite me, or claw me on occasion, but the last two years she was around, for some reason she and I became really close.

Funny how they become not just a part of the family, but a part of our lives and our hearts.

I will miss my "Hotshot" when he departs this mortal plane. He has been with me now since 1999, I know his time draws near and I try to spend as much time with him as possible. For a cat, he acts more like a dog, when I whistle he comes, he "talks" to me when he wants some more food, or he wants to play. He will sit in the window waiting for me to get home from work and then follow me from room to room. It will sadden me greatly when he departs.
I understand and feel your pain.

I'm sorry to hear that. You and Mrs. Hoji have my condolences. We had to put our 14 year old cat Sheba down a few months ago due to kidney failure. It's never an easy thing to do, but at least they're in a better place now. I miss that little fur ball.

Dammit. I'm truly sorry to hear this. Thanks for sharing a part of his story. It hurts so terribly when old friends die. Cry, remember, and cry some more is my advice. God blessed you and your bride with this fella. God will bless you with a reunion as well - please have faith in that - I sure do.
