I'm not happy about having to get a license to carry openly but, I wholly accept and endorse it if it is what's offered. Maybe after awhile they will change it to unlicensed open carry and better yet, Constitutional carry. I grew up in Mt where it's pretty free roaming with guns to include constitutional carry outside most city limits but, spent the last 17 years in California where you really feel like a peasant when it comes to gun rights. Texas is trying very hard, get on board so we can gain more freedom. I really want the right to carry openly especially when on the trails again.

If we cannot get licensed open carry to pass with a supermajority, we can forget about Constitutional Carry ever passing. Baby steps.

He told us he had a problem with DPS and PTSD.

    Bad call, IMO.

    Ah, I remember now.

He does. He has a Florida license from what I have read. Texas will become open carry with a license. I dont see reciprocity being an issue.
Well unless Burnam has his way.

Then he will be able to open carry, if the OC bill passes. Burnam's garbage won't get out of committee.

Let me throw this in there.
I support this bill and I dont have a license.

Dude get one. I realize they are about as constitutional as a poll tax, but in the mean time before constitutional carry don't you want full reign to exercise your rights?

Oh guys do yall want to send this Burnam guy a bunch of letters? Remind him that Texans are not going to put up with his crap for long perhaps.

Yeah I agree but I would still get the permission slip instead of being defenseless, especially in Waco.

Crab mentality, sometimes referred to as crabs in the bucket, describes a way of thinking best described by the phrase "if I can't have it, neither should you." The metaphor refers to a pot of crabs. Individually, the crabs could easily escape from the pot, but instead, they grab at each other in a useless "king of the hill" competition (or sabotage) which prevents any from escaping and ensures their collective demise. The analogy in human behavior is that of a group that will attempt to "pull down" (negate or diminish the importance of) any member who achieves success beyond the others, out of jealousy, conspiracy or competitive feelings.

    A permission slip isn't a right.
Yea man we all know all that and you'll have a hard time finding anyone who doesnt agee with you. That fact is, you have to realize were working on better rights to carry. The bill is just that.
You also need to realize you now have people and an organization who are dedicated to doing just that! Noone disagrees with you.
