Here's a weird one for y'all: Dutch Model 1895 Mannlicher Carbine, No.3 New Model

Can anyone guess what the extra wood pieces are for?

Haha yep pretty much. Allows you to get a full grip on the bayonet without burning your hand when wrapping it around the barrel.

Oh those silly Dutch.

Well, I mean, that really makes some sense except...why would you grab it way up there and negate the reach advantage? I'm guessing the guy who wrote that requirement had never used a bayonet.

7mm-08 is my favorite use of the 308 case.
That Particular rifle is one of the easiest to shoot well I have ever owned. It shoots well out to 800 yds and that is the farthest I have tried. Maybe after I get my house sold I will find a place to send it a bit more.

I have an ackley version of the 7mm-08 but run it around what most max loads for the standard version is. I’ve had solid luck with 162gr a max/eld and 168gr smk out to a mile.

Yep, shoot the same projectile over a case full of Varget. Works astonishingly well ! I have been considering doing the Ackley to mine also. a lil more push won't hurt...
