Being half way between L.A. and San Francisco, you're kinda between a rock and a hard place when it comes to 2A. What kind of gun trust do you have there?
I tried to describe what I do for a living but the admin edited my post, removing that.

I guess they consider that to be advertising.

Welcome. I hope you like .30 super carry.
I prefer .45acp but any ammo will do if you will do.

FBI study says shot placement is key factor, but you can have both that and stopping power, too. Hatcher factor is optimal with .40 or .45 and I disdain combat Tupperware for regular carry so for me it's .45

California had open carry before Texas had open carry.

Probably was. Get over or it or pay to play.

    Did you know Sean Cody?
Not personally but I've known of him for years and his name came up on a zoom meeting I had a couple days ago with a San Antonio firm I deal with.

I did NFA trusts for a time, working first with David Goldman of Florida and then with WealthCounsel's gundocx platform, before I realized that guns should not (generally) be held in trust in CA. For three years I warned about that, but many colleagues continued to put guns in trusts.

Then in 2019 Sacradimento actually did something good for a change and fixed the issues I was concerned about, or most of them.

But I haven't done NFA trusts in quite awhile as they don't make sense anymore (in CA), due to 41F and other issues. And cozying up to the ATF was never my idea of a smart estate plan.

What I do is different. That's about all I can say on that.

I'm glad to hear that you support and defend the 2nd Amendment.

Proof? Not knocking or denying your statement, just more than a bit surprised for obvious reasons.

    Welcome to the asylum.
What I know (or think I know) of TX is this:

During Reconstruction, Texas did not want newly-freed blacks (sorry, just what I heard) to carry concealed so it banned concealed carry. Texas is not alone. A lot of gun control originated as race control. I don't know the history since then, maybe it was legalized at various times, but I think around 2016 it became legal if you had a permit (either TX or another state like my non-resident UT), then recently TX went permitless (yahoo!).

What I know of CA is this:

Before 1968 we could open carry loaded. Then in 1968 a great future president and imperfect governor with he initials RWR banned loaded open carry (again, because of black protesters) so after 1968 we only had unloaded open carry (UOC). On my professional profile I have a pic of me open carrying in my neighborhood to spread the word about CA's attempt to ban even unloaded carry, which unfortunately did pass. UOC was very limited, especially with gun free school zone laws, in terms of where you could carry and of course how, but it still had value in educating the public, something only open carry can really do. Open carry protesters were blames for passage of the ban, but it was the publicized long gun protests that caused uproar. No one called the cops on me when I carried in my neighborhood several times and passed out flyers.

Welcome to the forum, sir! I've been to California only once for basic and A.I.T. at Fort Ord (many, many years ago). Basic wasn't all that bad because of the wonderful weather we had .
We are just south a bit from there. My dad was a drill sergeant at Fort Ord during Korean War. He was born in Cross Plains TX, where his dad was CEO of the local bank when it reorganized as Texas Heritage Bank. My grandfather prevented a run on that bank, got it through the Great Depression without depositors losing anything. And my grandma sang "Deep in the Heart", owned oil wells, and danced once with Howard Hughes. So I do have some Texas roots!

During Reconstruction the Yankee carpetbaggers did not want Texans to carry. Had nothing to do with race. You must remember we had government full of carpet bagging Yankees including the governor. In my humble opinion of course.
Thanks for setting me straight on that!
