I have a 336 in 35 Remington, but ammo is scarcer than an honest politician! And expensive when it can be found!
My husband sold his Marlin 336 in the 35Remington caliber several years ago and kept several, at the TIME, 30-30 Win. Marlin 336 rifles. He only owns ONE 30-30 Win. Marlin 336SS now.

Plus the 45-70 Government Marlin Classic '1895' rifle.

The man who bought it shoots at our range. HE still owns it and LOVES to shoot it.

A friend who was with the BUYER of my husband's 35Rem. rifle said that if he did not want it or buy it - he wanted to be the NEXT man UP for the sale.

IT was a TACK DRIVER rifle like the rest of my MT husband's Marlin rifles.

That 35 Rem. factory ammo is hard to find AND expensive but my husband reloaded for ALL of his former CF firearms and present firearms shy of his .380 Glock pistols.

He used to reload for his shotguns way, way back when too. He owns NO shotguns now.

The man who bought my husband's 35Rem. Marlin bought ONE of my husband's reloading sets that he had for sale AND the DIE for the 35Rem. at the same time.

My husband kept his FAVORITE ROCKCHUCKER single stage press and OTHER stuff - several dies, etc.

He did SELL SOME DIES to some close friends when he got OUT of some calibers over time too.

Own several lever guns including a JM stamped 336 in 30-30. Never have shot it, always shoot the 44mag and the 450 Marlin on occasion. Been planning to sell the 30-30 along with others sitting in the safe. I’m sure that’s a crime in some folks book, but I’m past the point of having things just to have, time to let the safe queens grace someone else’s home.

    As it should be.

Of course I do, even though I don't hunt. I'm a Texan and i think the law requires I own one. So I have two, just to be on the safe side. A 336 and a 94, both 1980-ish. I bought some cheap ammo at an estate sale this week so I intend to burn some up soon as the weather breaks.
Still looking for a nice pre-1964

Some SHTF post years ago suggest if society devolved to the point where carrying a rifle in public was neccessary, an old levergun might be perceived better than a black rifle.

I own a Marlin 336 straight grip .30-30, a Marlin 336 in .30-30 AI, a H&R .30-30 AI, a Stevens 325 .30-30 bolt-action, and a Savage 340 .30-30 bolt-action. Love 'em all, the bolt-actions are interesting with the detachable mag, and the Marlins carry so easy in the field.

I've got a Winchester 1894 in 30-30. I'd like to find an older one like my step father, who bought one brand new in 1958. We like to shoot his 30-30 at the ranch in San Saba. He's got gun mounts on either side of the Gator for the Winchester 94 and the Ruger 10/22. Great rifle for killing hogs and deer.

The discussion about 30-30 popularity keeps coming to mind. Someone mentioned it could be age specific. What say ye?

I bought mine at a pawn shop in the 80's. Came with a rubberized scope which is still on it. Its taken lots of deer and pigs. Any time i hunt in E TX it goes with me. I load some 125g HPs for it that are as lethal as anything I have ever loaded for a gun of any caliber.

Pawn shop guy said the guy he got it from told him it was dead on at 100yds. I took it from the pawn shop to the woods, and shot a nice 10 point buck with it a few hours later.

Along with the guitar I traded in, I was only out $32 for it.
I used to, but sold it, and really regret it. Would like to get another one

    It's a formidable cartridge...inside of 150 yards.
Speaking of interesting, I load the H&R single-shot with the 155gr AMax/ELD-M, and with it's high B.C. and thin jacket the bullet will perform to 400 yards. It's my LR .30-30.
