So, did Shane become a Zombie because he got infected on the bus, or is it because he was killed & then "rose up" as one.....same question about Randall (although he was not shown getting possibly infected in any way we know of)???

Remember how randall's hands were chewed up by the handcuffs? He could easilly get infected by Shane that way. Or the could have mutated and gone airborne and everyone dead becomes a zombie. Or all those zombies at the end could just be a bunch that alerted to the gunshots. Interesting show.

The "zombie" virus is probably airborne. Everyone has it, but it doesn't take over until you're higher brain function stops. The bites just cause an infection that gives you a serious enough fever to cook your melon. I bet the infection from the bites doesn't even have anything to do with the zombie virus. I mean, can you imagine how nasty a zombie mouth must be? It would be like getting bit by a monitor lizard... They don't have venom, but they carry so many diseases that you can die from their bite.

    That's my theory anyways

Ok...everybody remember the two guys in the bar from Randall's crew that Rick shot?
Those guys did not come back & the "good guys" were in the bar for quite a while after they were killed....what gives??

good observation. Rick gave the fat guy three blasts. two to the chest and one to the face (I think). But the squirly dude from Philly, he only got one to the chest. I kept waiting for the squirly dude to reanimate as (I can't remember who) picked the gun up off the dead body.

Speaking about oddities. Anyone think slicing yourself with a knife to draw blood then using that same knife to kill zombies is a bad idea? Just sayin'

Actually, he killed a Zombie at the fence by stabbing it in the head before the bus scene.....

Eggactly what I'm sayin' knife infected with zombie blood (zombie head at fence), Then knife gets scrapped across skin to draw fresh blood in bus scene. I suppose if what people here are claiming about the "dormant" virus (mosquitoes and what not) then sure...it's believable.

What I can't believe is zombies have the power to tear open a fresh chest. Reference Daryl and the cow eating zombie. Man, zombies can sure tear up a torso with their fingers alone. I dared the wife to try it on me after that scene. For some reason, she declined.

^^^^^I was also pointing out that I had mentioned that last month, hence the link, lol.....

As far as ripping flesh goes, the Zombies are dead (duh) so their skin dies leaving their phalanges exposed, & I figure that might do a decent job on flesh.

Whoops I was lazy and didn't want to read thru 13 pages, just catching up on this thread. And I was extra lazy by not clicking on your link. Sorry! I thought for sure little man Carl was going to blast his dad after that dramatic ending and I thought for sure Rick cought that stray bullet discharge while Rick and Shane were doing the dance of death.

I got Comcast (I have to have it because my apartment complex will not allow any other service)

I love the show. I never get to watch it Sunday night so I assumed I could watch it on demand.

Comcast is the most pathetic TV service ever!! There's like 2 or 3 episodes left and they haven't even put episode one of this season yet despite Walking Dead being in the On Demand listings. All they have is old episodes that aren't in order and the boring talk show Talking Dead.

I had to catch up by watching it online.

    Oh well.

I just watched the scene again and, it’s hard to see, but Rick popped the first guy right in the forehead. I had to view it frame by frame on my DVR, but you see a red spot in the middle of his forehead and you see the blood blow out the back and onto the mirror.

Wow!!! Excellent episode. This is why I started watching the show to begin with. I'm also glad T-Dog finally got a chance to be part of an episode again. I think he had more lines tonight than he's had all series.

Paraphrasing the comic's creator, Robert Kirkman: Everyone is infected with the zombie virus. If you die and your brain is still intact, you will become a zombie. If you stub your toe, it gets infected and you die, you become a zombie. The result is the same regardless of how you died.
