i have to say that i may need to step back from that site for a while. ive been seeing on some of the fourms latley, people just being plain stupid with their posts. people new to the game asking questions and their heads getting ripped off if they dont buy a Larue or high end rifle. it also seems to me that some of these "mods" are out there to prove their worth while. ill admit i made a posting mistake on a sale item, but let me throw this out there. in a matter or 12 minutes i recieved 3 emails saying how i need to fix my post. how am i supposed to read an email, then find a computer, fix a post all within 12 minutes? i wrote the "mod" and asked how anyone was supposed to fix an error in 12 min and explained that it was a little excessive. mod replied that i was to know the rules and that it was my responsibility to follow those. he went on to say that it was not his responsibility to make sure that i knew the rules and that "people like you are mucking up the EE section". - didnt waste my time with an email. dude, honest mistake on my behalf, my bad. but get off yourself. its people like you that hide behind a computer and talk trash and make yourself seem like a man. ill i have to say is i bet you wouldnt talk trash like that to peoples face.
on a happy note, sold some brass and traded a magpul stock i wanted all while "mucking up the EE section"

I used that forum among others extensively while putting my AR together. I never did become a member however for the reasons you mentioned. I was just so surprised at how those members jump all over each other about certain things. Lots of immaturity amongst them, I had no intentions of getting mixed up in all that B.S. I did find quite a bit of useful information after deciphering through all the useless rehtoric though.

I used to be a regular there but completely abandoned my account once I found TGT. I was sick of the way everyone was treated there. It was like the mods were actually discouraging posting. Most of the regulars were such complete ass douches that they made conversation and the free exchange of ideas impossible.
I never really realized how bad it actually was until I checked out TGT. This is a much nicer, diverse and knowledgable group.

Been a member there longer than here - so long, in fact, that my hotmail email addy was "grandfathered" in when they started banning 'em. I may log on once every 3-5 months any more.

Some named gun-centric sites tend to be ... a bit judgmental.

I enjoy the cheap AR's that would be condemned by AR Snobs on that site.

Mine work just fine, and are more than accurate enough for field work.

there is a lot of good guys on there, but finding them amongst the masses is hard. ive used them for a build and found some good deals on the EE. just amazes me how dumb people could be.

Unless I need something specific, I try to avoid forums dedicated to a specific gun type, manufacturer, etc (ar15.com, GlockTalk, et al), mostly because a lot of the regulars tend to be serious a**nozzles if you don't conform to the prevailing opinion.

That said, arfcom was a great resource for the step-by-step assembly of DIY ARs, and especially when I built my 9mm AR carbine.

For anyone interested in a generally mature, civilized forum that's not location-specific to TX, I recommend WeTheArmed.com. If you've ever read the Mad Ogre blog (Mad Ogre), he's one of the guys who runs it.

Although I surf there occasionally I'm not a member but I must say that TFL is way worse. I think the mods on there have a contest to see who can lock the most threads for the most trivial of things. Oh and dont dare disagree with their mossia Massad Ayoob or you'll get your pee pee slapped.

    arcom newb thread:

newb: hey guys! im new and want to build a budget ar15 cause im poor and live pay check to paycheck, but i like to have fun when i can and want to protect my family. whats the best way to build or buy a budget ar?

arfcom #1: you can build a sweet AR for $1200

newb: uhhh..my budget is like $700 max
arfcom#1: $700? what a piece of shit rifle thats gonna be.
arfcom mod: $700? do yourself a favor and save up the $1500 for a high end AR. if you dont you will be back crying about how you arent sub-moa and it failed on you when you were attacked by an army of taliban while you were at the shooting range and had to lay down 50000000 rounds of suppressive fire.

i will say that arfcom can have amusing threads. just recently PSA made a thread that they were manufacturing 6.8 uppers and had finished testing them with high pressure loads. Spikes came along and ran their mouth how 6.8 high pressure doesnt exist lol, you mad dumb, making up lies, lol. then PSA posted a pic of a shelf full of high pressure 6.8 boxes. lulz ensued.

and that is why i wont ever buy a spikes product. immature and unprofessional.

    PSA 16" 6.8 SPCII, 1/11, Mid-length, Lighter profile, MP Upper - AR15.COM

Just went and found both the threads. I will have to say, ST is off my list of manufacturers to ever purchase from. Seriously unprofessional.
