I get that, but if they don't have to take the class to get the CHL, why would they pay for, then sit through the class? Why not just fill out the paperwork, send in the money, and get their CHL?

Knowledge is one thing that can never be taken away. Perhaps the gent just wanted to learn something.

First I'm not law enforcement but am very close with a few officers and the way I understand it is a licensed peace officer is not required to have a CHL to carry. However if a an LEO wants to get a CHL he/she still has to take the class but it would normally be at a discounted rate.

That is correct - an LEO must have taken the same classes we do to obtain a CHL. They don't have to have one to carry - but it comes in handy when they want to buy a gun, because w/o it they are subject to the same background checks everyone else is.

And why wouldn't you want legal aid with firearms especially with a chl? You'd rather take the chance of finding counsel on your own & on your own dollar ar the 11th hour and risk not only your freedom but your right to own arms and imprisonment? What would your family do and think? I've had great luck and resonponses from these guys. Not only a response but phone calls instead of email replies. Actually talking to the attorneys in the office. You've either had bad luck with attorneys or just want to not spend the money. I've not had a chance to use them, God forbid, but they're there just in case. While theirvpresentation .may have been a littlde overwhelming, you also have to consider that are ciuld be civil. Suits as well as criminal suits that go a long with a bad chl case. I'd rather yhave a team on my side. This team has resoonded to my every question by phobe call and email even though I've not used them.

I can't figure out if your a customer or not. Either way maybe he, just like you, simply recounted his experience(s) with TLS and the didn't match.

Generally speaking, some people around here are just really anxious to jump on someone, ANYONE, with out reading or at least comprehending their posts.

As per my understanding, all they provide is just a one touch lawyer and nothing more than that, which you can get anywhere anytime. So even when I attended my CHL class most people assumed they were hiring a full time lawyer for $10/month which is not the case but thats how its presented.

Thanx man, it does seem that my inquuiry is going mostly misinterpreted. The general question still has not been answered...as far as anyone having any experiances with TLS in a criminal/civil case, pretty easy question I thought, I'm getting beat over the head with no real answers... sign0094.gif

If by one touch lawyer you mean one consultation, you are wrong. They will fully defend you from initial investigation right through criminal or civil trial. Appeals aren't covered.

So why would the guy mentioned above pay for and then sit through the class?

The police officer I mentioned that was in my class took it because his spouse was taking the CHL course and did not want to do it by herself (she was not a member of law enforcement). So he was there to offer moral support for his spouse, plus he told me at the end of the class he even learned a couple of things.
It was also cool to see his shooting test scores. His groupings were so tight the instructor joked (when scoring his target) that he could not pass him because there was only 1 big hole and he had no way of knowing if he actually fired all the rounds, lol.

I'm not trying to pile on, but if you had sent me an email asking if the service I was offering was a scam I probably won't be Johnny on the spot with a reply either. TLS takes a beating on these forums, so they may be a little sensitive if they feel like they may be walking into a confrontation. You may get a response if you revise the email that you sent & asked them specific questions about the service that you're not clear on.

As to getting practical feedback from an online forum, you may not get very far. I know that if I were to have to use my gun, the last place that I'd be talking about it would be online. I'd probably go so far as to disable or deactivate all my accounts.

By one touch I meant just you have them on a retainer and are available when ever you need them. But does the $10/mo include the entire defending (their fees ofcourse) ? My assumption is that they charge separately for everything

Membership includes all phases of defense including criminal & civil trial. They don't include expert witness fees or appeals. But neither do any of the other companies that provide similar service.

Believe me, I was courteous & careful with my wording. I asked them for any cases they could refer to and gave them an FYI about what kind of chatter there was about their firm. I would think that they would want to clear any confusion about what was on the www, and give some case for CHL holders a reason to sign up with them, and to maintaion their reputation. I followed up with an email to them this morning as well. I still plan to visit them when I go to Houston, or I may call if I don't make it that way soon.

Heck, I got a headache trying to follow this thread.........re-read the OP a couple of times........couldn't see where he ever said they were a scam just what he had read elsewhere.

Don't have any knowledge to contribute as far as TLS.

I was a skeptic for a long time, current member. Let me ask what's your (presumably better) plan for legal representation if you don't go with TLS?

I'm always open to hear about opportunities for less expensive better quality services.

No, you will never receive a bill from their law firm. Your dues cover the cost of your defense.

This question is been brought each time I ask this. I don't have a plan, I also don't have an extra $240 to throw away, I just want some kind of comfirmation that TLS...or ANY pre-paid services will be there for me if I need them. After about a month of searching, I have yet to be convinced any pre-paid service is money well spent. I mean, are you 100% sure TLS will be there for you if you need them? If so, what gives you the assurance they will? I don't mean that disrespectfully. 1. I hope you never have to find out. 2. If you do need to use your weapon on someone, I HOPE they WILL be there fro you...or anyone else. Trust me, if I KNEW they were legit, I will be the first person to say i was wrong and will sign me & my wife up that day, guaranteed.
