How about this one, back during the summer, I was selling a colt/uramex m4, yep the 22lr one. Spelled it all out in the ad, caliber, accessories, etc. asking $425 if I remember right.
Guy starts emailing me, tons of questions, haggling, more pictures, etc. Wanted me to drive it from Dallas to Greenville so he could 'see' it, and for me to leave work early to meet his schedule on top of the drive. His last question was if the twist was right for 75 grain bullets.
Guy thinks he's found a Colt ar15 for $425 and wants to haggle and expects it delivered.
I see that deal, it's two questions, is it stolen and how quick can I throw cash at you?

The insolence of people is so frequent that I've gotten calloused to it and don't acknowledge most folks' uneducated comments/questions anymore. It's almost as if they need writing in crayon and that's still usually not enough. Imbeciles.

I wonder if you don't mean incompetence.

    Probably ignorance.

I'd say it's all three, actually!

Don't worry. We have "the rocket scientists" staying at my hotel fairly regularly as well.

Walk in guest on a weekend where the entire city has been sold out for about a year in advance: Hi, do you have any rooms?
Me: No sir, I'm sorry. (Cue fake sad face) We're all sold out.
Walk in guest: So... you don't have any rooms at all?
Me: No, sir. I'm very sorry! (thinking Yeah - I've got a room that I wanna keep empty instead of selling it... IDIOT!)
Walk in guest: Are you sure you don't have anything at all... maybe something in the back.
Me: <blank stare for a minute> Um, no sir. We're completely booked up. (Now I'm thinking: IN THE BACK? Is this dude looking for a room or a pack of underwear!?)
...and this will go on for another minute or so, becoming more and more absurd, and then just plain pathetic.

Then another one will walk in with a whole new way to ask me!

i was going to offer 25.00

I usually don't build any haggle room when I sell something because I want it sold fast. When people start going down on price I start going up. You'd be amazed at how long it took the last guy I did this to to catch on. I literally had to explain what I was doing to him.

He still bought the ring I was selling which means... I got to meet him in person! And his girlfriend! Needless to say he certainly didn't surprise me or make me regret thinking he was a retard when reading his texts.

Good God selling my AR upper was the worst PITA. Everyone wants something super-specific and they want it at a price that will make you cry and them orgasm. That of course is on top of the usual bullshit already mentioned in this thread.

Yeah... I doubt some of these people can master the McDonald's illiterate menu. Sure, they can point to the picture of what they want, but can they refrain from asking moronic obvious questions??? "Uh... does that cheeseburger have cheese? It's not a chicken burger, is it? Can I buy a drink with it, too? How about fries?"

I used to ignore them, too, but after the four dozenth idiotic question it got to me so I tried to show these people they are morons and hope that they'd figure out they'll never get anywhere in life if they can't even buy something because people won't tolerate their idiocy. I guess I was feeling charitable.

One of the guys sent me back an irate email saying something along the lines of "fuk u u dont know me (period conspicuously missing)" In response I sent him the URL to this thread. I'll bet it still doesn't drive the point home.

    Via dictionary.com:
    [h=2]in·so·lence[/h]
noun1.contemptuously rude or impertinent behavior or speech.

2.the quality or condition of being insolent.

I don't think I need to spell out what the context of the word used to get my point across was. Either way, these type of people are lacking in social skill in such a way that it actually impedes their ability to ask rational and meaningful questions.

Sure, they can point to the picture of what they want, but can they refrain from asking moronic obvious questions???

We've all done it in some form or another but these people only ask rhetorical questions such as that to reassure themselves and don't even realize how much of a fool it makes them come off to be and the time it wastes.

I'm pretty experienced at selling and buying things in online classifieds and I've gotten to the point where I just ignore the stupid questions and extreme hagglers. It may take an extra day or two, but eventually someone will make a reasonable offer and be a pleasure to make a deal with. It's not worth the extra effort trying to close a deal with dumbasses.

I found a new annoyance after I moved to Austin that I did not encounter elsewhere: Someone responds to my ad with something like "I'm interesting in [insert product here] but I have some questions. Can you call me?" That's a reasonable request I think, so I call them. ...and then I end up speaking to a 10 year old because that's the only person in the household that knows English. :p Now I pretty much never respond to someone asking me to call them.

Another annoyance is when they ask you to meet and end up assuming that since you drove, you'll just want to accept their offer and get on with it. This happened to my brother last year. Some guy wanted to buy his truck so Ben drove all of the two hours to the guy's house, the guy offered $2000 less than what they agreed on and wouldn't take any less, and my brother didn't say a word and drove right back. Definitely among one of the most inconsiderate things a person can do.

    Eff that.

You wanna look at my merchandise I'll drive a reasonable distance; say, within 20 miles. If you live any further than that you can meet me 20 miles from my house.

I agree but it also depends on the merchandise. He was in an agreement with the guy and he didn't honor it. Not to mention a truck is somewhat of a bigger investment than gun parts. Still, two hours is too far if the buyer doesn't have cash in hand.

Now, THAT'S just plain shitty! Being a moron and asking questions that are already answered in the ad is one thing.
