Nanny Forum....we are not responsible enough and too sensitive to handle a little booty and EVIL words. Pathetic! If this direction continues, i'll be gone. Hopefully we can continue the big meets like Hicksville, elsewhere if this crap continues!

I agree. I also hope we're both completely wrong.

If they don't, then that would be a valid reason to abandon the board. I hope they're smarter than that.

I agree with both of you. Kids don't belong on this site or any other like it. Another gun forum I'm on uses a filter and its really rubbed me wrong. I tried to say that I "scrapped" a project and it filtered it cuz it picked up "crap".

We're in an open forum....as such, folks from all over can read it. To me, the challenge of saying what I want to say WITHOUT profanity is worth it - it cleans up my language away from the 'puter - and as I work with a wide variety of clients, that's actually a good thing.

If we have to use profanity to get our point across, then IMO the point can't be that valid - otherwise, it would be self-supporting without the need to cuss while we're doing it. I may well be in the minority here, but I've seen the language skills here drop steadily as the profanity levels increased. Rather than fight it, why not try going along with it, and see what happens? Many of us here have referred friends and customers to this site - and more than one has commented on the language used. Not a gripe - just an observation.

I like the filter. I think its a positive. If you came into my house using the 7 words too much you would be asked to leave. It should be no different here. We are visitors in someone else's house.

I think all of the freaking out over new ownership is quite hilarious. People are so scared of ANY change. A few weeks ago the complaints were all about there being an absence of management or moderation. Now its that everyone is afraid something bad is going to happen. Mostly I just think people like to complain.
Most changes we wont even notice. Stuff like the language filter is of little consequence.

Everyone needs to take a few deep breaths. Its going to be OK.

The members that have met me know I don't cus. **** my wife uses more curse words than I do. That being said. I don't like the idea that we are being censored.

Hmm...TGT circling the drain as so many other short lived boards before it...done in by hyper controlling nanny state types...

Hopefully the owners and mods will pull up their big boy panties and realize how stupid "filters" are.

My problem with a filter is that it isn't smart and can't differentiate between true curse words and normal conversation. Like I said, on your forum I can't say "scrap". You now have to say "rooster the hammer" here and hope people pick up on the reference?

Sorry but there is no need to censor an adult forum just cuz it is public and searchable. Porn sites are public too...why not just raise your kids right and monitor their internet access if it is a concern?
