I'd rather watch football than a bunch of steroid raging meat heads rolling around lol. I didn't go to the Alamo because I had other plans . Not football. I'd probably not bring a rifle anyway. If I could carry a handgun open I'd consider.

Quote from the reporter from the SA Express News:

"A heavy police presence was also expected. Two uniformed officers were spotted at the rally at around 10 a.m., shaking hands with demonstrators."

Sounds everything went as it should.

Actually, it's a controversial topic but most historians tend to agree that's probably not the Gonzales cannon.

I concur with Lindley that the Gonzales cannon likely made it to the Alamo before the battle. Unfortunately, the cannon itself was probably melted down by that bastard Santa Anna.

I fully support those folks demonstrating at the Alamo today. I'd be there, but my wife and I just had our first baby and my desire to spend time with them outweighs my support for open carry...
My uncle owned that cannon for a while and he doesn't think it was the original either.

I did go to the event and had a blast. We took our new baby with us.

I quit worrying about what other people think about me or my opinions long ago. Since retirement, that has multiplied by a factor of 2! In the sixties, we used to say; "xxxx 'em if they can't take a joke!" to which I added "xxxx 'em if they CAN take a joke!"

I don't worry too much about things that I say being used against us as propaganda. The media has proved repeatedly that if they can't get something on us, they'll simply make something up!

I understand that the rally at the Alamo raised a pretty good crowd.

bleh... Alex Jones was a speaker? What idiot invited him?

I showed up about 20-30 minutes late and missed his speech, so I didn't even know he was there until I read it later. I hear his speech wasn't too crackpot; whatever silly things he said were more than made up for by the other speakers. One of them was a WWII paratrooper who said he wished he could go on one last jump straight into Washington D.C!

? We need to get rid of this attitude.Since when do we need an invitation to express our rights.

When that person is representing a larger demographic such as gun owners, it's smart to choose wisely and not pick someone that the general public precieves as being a lunatic...

You don't need an invitation to express your opinion our exercise your rights. You do need one to do it are an organized function.

Stewart Rhodes was on Alex's show,Alex has done his best to help promote that event.I hear people on this forum trash him but don't hear him trash us gun owners.Lets be truthful here do we really think liberals were going to all rush to our side because some of us ran down to the Alamo with their rifles on their back.

More than that, because you don't like Alex, or question his motives, or worry about his methods, and decide as a result to not attend something do you really think that they won't lump us all together anyway? My realization over the last few years is that they are going to make us look as stupid as possible regardless of the truth. I respect Alex's First Amendment rights and so will continue to put up with them. If I believe a cause is worthy, I'm not going to run away from it just because he happens to agree with it and promote it.

    Gunz are icky.
Sounds like the rally is getting some weak positive support on some of the mainstream media sites.
It is great to hear things went smoothly.
    Win for us I think.

Bigger considering that this media will only give positive nods if they cannot possibly twist it against us. They wanted thing to go badly yesterday. I think they were hoping someone would die, or shoot a gun.
