easiest thing to do is go to http://www.atf.gov/index.htm look around and you'll find a request for forms, (it's free) order the application from them. they will explain how to fill it out but it doesn't hurt to ask questions. i'm pretty sure they'll send you everything you need. from the day they cashed my check to the interview i believe it was about 2-3 months. it's not hard. just a little nerve racking if your like me and just a little impatient. remember...ask questions. don't guess.

    ps...it's form #5310.12

+ beware of unauthorized versions of ATF forms

    Out here by the lake!
I got mine when I turned 21. Kept it until Klintoon made it a bit harder to have. Did not want a democrat A.G. vist me like they did Randy Weaver & David Koresh.

the agent i had asked basic questions...what my "plan" is, will i be selling at gunshows or on the internet...mostly he and i just discussed the laws, he wanted to make sure i understood them and where to find answers if'n something came up. nothing i would consider "private" or political

I have an FFL app sitting on the shelf, unopened. It took them a good while to get it to me, so long I began to question whether I even requested it or not! lol

I haven't been further through the process so I can't offer much info except what I've done. Go to the ATF site and request the packet from them. Its free and relatively easy.

I'll have to check this out as well. One of things I had heard that prohibits me from doing this (While overseas) is that you suppossedly have to have a Place of business to run the operation? Kind of hard to do when overseas. Then I thought about the antique ffl licences....I run across so many interesting pieces while abroad, but catch 22 is a place in the states....You would think they would make allowances for those of us who serve abroad...

Got my 03 recently, easy as pie.

I have my app for 07 sitting here, spent the last weekend cleaning out the shop and getting ready to move the lathe/mill in. Hopefully within the year Fredericksburg will have it's second class 2 SOT manufacturer.....

Importation is a complex deal. They have a points system for certain guns to meet eligibility, and it's a lengthy process.

I have no interest in importation. My schtick is going to be making both inexpensive suppressors that "the working man" like me can afford, and making custom/odd cans for specific firearms/applications.

I requested a packet back in September. I received it in 7 calendar days. Now it's been 5 weeks since the ATF cashed my check. I called them today and they said that my application has been forwarded to my local ATF almost two weeks ago. How long will it be before I get a call for a site visit?

The ATF is very busy in Texas. They have only a handful of investigators and field agents for the number of FFLs in the state.
