Stopped by Academy today, and they had just about everything except .38 spec, .357 mag/sig and .44 mag. Everything else is full. Actually, the regular ammo isle is plumb full except those few empty slots. They even have another ammo isle two rows over that looks to be an overflow isle. Nobody is buying the stuff. They have more 9mm, .45acp, 40, .308. rim fire calibers, soviet calibers, .556 and hunting calibers than I remember seeing pre-Covid, yet they still have that stupid limit of 4 sign. The prices alone will keep anybody from buying more than one or two boxes. Unless Brandon does something to affect ammo manufacturing, I’m hopeful that we may see prices drop a little because nobody is buying the stuff. All of the new gun owners got what they needed and the ammo section has been a dead zone for the past few months.

Yeah, been there twice in the past few weeks. Plenty of ammo in the most popular calibers, but prices still about 25% higher than 2 years ago.
I don't know why they still have the 4-box limit, since it looks like there's plenty of it.
    I picked up 4 200-round boxes.

Four 200 rd boxes? Are you flaunting your wealth? Haha.. I think the ammo is closer to double what it was 2 years ago.. 9mm winchester white box was $18.99 for 100ct right before Covid, and now it’s $18.99 for 50ct box. .45acp was $32.99 100ct white box, and now its sixty something bucks for the same box.

    Gunz are icky.
Our local Academy sucks. It’s always out of everything.
The ammo isle is much better stocked than the previous two years but it still hit or miss. Revolver calibers seem to be very slim pickings.

The 9mm was $74.99 for 200 rounds. I got one box of .45acp for $119.99 for 200 rounds. That's about 25% higher than what I bought it for 2 years ago.

Nope....I know the difference (.355" bullet, semi-rimmed case, pressures similar to 9mm Parabellum). And I know that .38 Super should NEVER be used in a .38Spl pistol. Also, .38Spl has been harder to find here until just recently.

.....anything else you want to mansplain to me?

Is there something in the water lately? Relax, I made a wrong assumption, since in my neck of the woods, 38 super is non existent and .38 special is easy to find. I wasn’t trying to “mansplain” (at least I don’t think I was, I’m not 100% positive I know exactly what that means!)

Western Auto!! are they still open?

Haven't seen one of those in 30 years
Sadly- I think the Western Auto brand is long gone. My paternal grandparents owned and operated the Western Auto in Burlington IA from the time Grandad got back from Europe in 1946 and sold it in the early 70’s. I mowed the lawn to earn walks through the toy aisle.

9mm range ammo is 34 to 36 cents a round and WWB was 17 cents a round two years ago.

You were able to buy WWB 9mm for $8.50 a box 2 years ago?
They must price ammo differently, depending on region. I thought I was 19 per round precovid, but I pulled my receipts and it was .20 per round. I’m guessing the $8.50 you mention a box is a 50 ct? Looks like I was paying less than you but more than @ATN2 for my ammo.

This was one of the last purchases I made in “normal” times. $19.99/100 ct box or 19 cents per round

Here is a purchase at the start of the shortage where there was still ample stock, but we started to see some empty spaces. 11.99 per 50ct box or .24/rd

These purchases are both 9mm 115 grain Winchester white box.

I never bought WWB in 50 round boxes

They were always 100 or 200 round boxes and actually probably $19 a box so 19 cents a round

The last time I bought any 9mm WWB was from TargetSports website and paid $170 for 1000 rounds so that's where I got the 17 cents a round

    2 years ago? maybe 2.5 years ago....pre-covid
