I do have concerns over people who carry without proper training and experience, but the LTC licensing program never really addressed that issue so its demise will have little impact on handgun safety in this state.
When I took my initial CHL course many years ago, several students were barely able to safely handing a firearm and required basic instruction on its use. They passed.
Even so, there's very little evidence that has been a problem. I am sure accidental firearms deaths among LTC holders occurs, but it's rare.
But most importantly, it's no reason not to restore inalienable rights in the Lone Star State.
