1) Be sure bullet actually is larger than the barrel's groove diameter--slug the barrel.
2) If you get leading, give the bullets a very light tumble lube in Lee Liquid Alox or White Label's 45/45/10
3) Keep velocity down (if the bullet is under 8 BHN, keep velocity under 1100 fps)
What exactly is the hardness of your "soft" lead? If it is more that 8 BHN, it is not that soft and, if properly sized (or simply as-cast and tumble lubed), there will not be a problem. Elmer Keith did all his .44 Mag development with a "soft" alloy of 11-12 BHN.
