    I call it "entrapment".

Entrapment is different. What they're doing by stealing a car is already a crime. Now if they gave them the keys, and permission to take the car, and THEN arrested them for car theft, THAT would be entrapment.

Did you actually think before making that post?

Is it also entrapment when LE pretend to be preteen girls online to catch pedophiles? Those poor mislead perverts and car thieves.

What does it matter if the car is full of bait or not? Stealing any car should be illegal.

On top of that, who is sitting down to eat at a Chili's while they have a car full of bait? It is not a good idea to leave bait sitting in a hot car any longer than necessary.

Nobody gonna steal a car full of rotten shad and old chum.

Almost agree with you. I'll be ok with it in Spanish as long as it's also in Chinese (all forms), Japanese, German, Dutch, Russian, Arabic, Portuguese, Vietnamese...

Point being, where does it stop? Why should we cater to the (generally) illegal population? All those that I know of that have been born in Mexico (and legally immigrated) have told me that the first thing they wanted to learn was English. They felt so alone / out of place not understanding what others were saying.

That's what I was getting at. Spanish gets special treatment.

Either all languages or English only. (I prefer the latter)

How is it "wrong"? Is it ok to steal a car full of valuables if the police leave it there?

Does someone deserve to have their car or valuables stolen because they forget to hide them?

I'd really like to hear how you came to the conclusion that its wrong for police to arrest someone for stealing a car the police left in a parking lot.

It's wrong for the cops to go around intentionally trying to trick people in to committing crimes. One would think that there are enough crimes already being committed to keep them busy, but then that would mean pulling revenue rangers off of ticket duty.
Remember, I believe that there are 90% too many LEO's in this country. Most cops are criminals to begin with. Those that aren't are enablers.

They aren't tricking someone in to committing a crime. They aren't telling then it's OK then arresting them for it.

Law abiding citizens aren't going to suddenly turn in to car thieves because there is a "bait car" in the parking lot. The ones they do catch, they will catch in the act of breaking in to a car instead of just taking a report from a victim. By catching them on with a bait car and getting the POS off the street they prevent the future crimes the POS would have committed.

How is that "tricking" a criminal in to committing a crime? Do you honestly believe the person who is willing to break in to a bait car wouldn't break in to your car if the opportunity arose?

We aren't talking about poorly worded laws or illegal searches, we are talking about arresting someone for breaking in to a car that they don't own and clearly violating a law by committing an act that everyone knows is illegal.

You are letting your disdain for law enforcement cloud your judgement and thereby destroying the credibility of any future arguments you might make by showing your illogical bias.

So if you see a car with the keys in it do you steal it?

Do the keys trick you into thinking it is a free car?

Yeah...that doesn't make any sense. It's pretty simple. Don't steal cars. If you don't own it, don't try to drive it away. If you do, you're a criminal. It doesn't matter if the car belongs to the Police Department instead of a private citizen.

Is it ok to steal a marked black and white police car? If it is, why? If not, why not? Your answer to either question is the same answer to why the police aren't tricking anyone into committing crimes. Or do you really assume that "finders keepers" is lawful and will hold up in court? If I set my gun on a table at the range and turn away for a second, does it become yours to take? If you walk by a book store and see they have some books on shelves outside, do they become free to take without paying for?

Unfortunately I know some car thieves personally. They're a product of bad/no parenting and the video game Grand Theft Auto. They steal cars to go joy riding. They are minors and they know there will be no punishment so they could care less. They tear up the cars then ditch them walking distance from the house. It's happened a dozen times that I know of.

I think the video company should bear a lot more responsibility. From what I understand the video game actually shows you how to hot wire a car. They know which cars they steal and which ones they can't. Late model cars that you can start with a screwdriver by breaking the ignition switch. They prey on the poor and the weak. They deserve to be caught and punished.

I grew up playing GTA and still get every new release. I played dungeons and dragons. I watched porn and cartoons as a kid.I played with guns and knives. I have never stolen anything. I would never consider taking another persons stuff. Hell 95% of the kids I hung out with and still know have never seen the back of a cop car.

The parents are the problem or I guess society for not allowing parents to be parents.

And I grew up around Compton Ca so don't tell me its the area that did it.
