OK, but do you get any free range time? I'll sit thru the classes if I can shoot a course or 2. I'll even supply the ammo. I used to love to quialify. The CHL course can be passed without effort by any blind monkey. Come on I wanna shoot with the big boys.

The SAPD program allows you to shoot their Glock 23s, but only three rounds or so. I don't think they open their range to civilians...

I have taken the cpa class in Harris county and it is a hoot. It is basically an abbreviated police academy, used to teach what an officer must learn, and to allow citizens to see a person not the badge. Deputys Jan and Paul Brown (not related) host the class, and are first rate folks. Each week a different deputy that specializes in a different area comes to teach you about his or her specialty. Scenario night is a blast, they put you in their shoes. Trust me when I say you will have a while new respect for the job these fine folks preform. It was worth every min spent, and I now have some great friends.
