Me too. = About a decade ago my big tomcat, MIDNIGHT, brought me a "gift" to my bed. - I awakened to discover an about 12" long copperhead, that Midnight had caught & that was very much alive. = Small but very much a venomous reptile, who was soon killed by the "field expedient means" of beating him with a western boot.

Mothballs in strategic corners and back. Opening below steps clear. A known exfile for the snake. Remaining k9 in place outside door area. He will alert Danger Close upon seeing the snake and assume guard until I arrive. When the pistol comes out or shotgun is deployed the k9 will retreat. He's not fond of gunfire. Then as the snake becomes more visible I'll take it out. I'll exit house from back. Less vibration for snake to detect. Can pick my location for the shot as well. Not like stepping off the short steps into the snakes range.

Sounds like you need to write up an OPORD. Hell, you’re halfway there already.

But on a more serious note...Good luck in killing that DRB. I’ve lost good dogs the same way. I hope you bring overwhelming violence of force and visit that shaken with great wrath and violent fury. Best of luck .
