I assume you are quite young and don’t recall the days when only a few states had concealed carry. Now virtually all states do. Perhaps you missed the NRA passing laws in most states preserving the right to hunt with traditional ammo, preserving hunting land, castle doctrines, etc.... The list is endless if you bother to look or pay attention. Without the NRA it is unlikely you would have any meaningful rights at this point. When is the lasting you heard a politician attack GOA. No one even knows who the are because they don’t matter.

You assume wrong Recoil. And, the NRA has never passed any laws, since they aren't legislators.
They have helped in some as token measures to justify, and appease it's members, but in some areas where they could have used their influence and the numbers to have made some real differences and changes, they failed miserably.
Where were they on bumpstocks?
What about the Hearing Protection Act?
What about the "assault weapons" ban in 1994?
What about the Hughes Amendment of 1986?
What about the Gun Control Act of 1968?
What about the beyond ridiculous gin control restrictions in the states of New York and California?
I could go on for hours about many, many things they NRA could have helped to make some changes, or limited the infringements gun owners are facing, but I'm not. I made my point, and I think more than a few see my points as I do.
I was a Member of the NRA for over fifty years. Not anymore, until some radical changes are made and I can see the money I pay in membership dues is doing something worthwhile.
