Exactly!I might have liked it better he had not inserted a commercial for War Thunder. I should have jumped to 4:30.
Guys crying about the price of ammo need to price dangerous game rifle ammo, especially the solids!!
"Elephant Rifle" = takes an elephant to manage the recoil......To All,
WHAT exactly is an "ELEPHANT RIFLE"?? = W.D.M. Bell killed a GREAT many elephants with a .275 Rigby/7x57mm Mauser, so most any CF rifle would work IF you are a GOOD SHOT & have as many GUTS as "Karamoja" Bell obviously had.
(ONE of the many true stories about Bell's quips was when a "sportsman" at a NYC private club. who was "in his cups", was loudly bragging about how well that he had killed a great deal of dangerous game at 200 yards. - Bell turned to a friend & quietly said, with his usual "British understatement", "I would be rather more impressed if he had taken his dangerous game at two yards.")
Further, my Model 760 Remington pump-rifle, that Jessie at JES reformatted for me from .30-06 to 9.3x62mm, is fully capable of taking an elephant, especially "up close & personal".

I like this "elephant" gun
A few years back at the annual machine gun shoot 2 of the friends brought their dangerous game rifles rifles. A .460 Weatherby bolt gun & a .500 Nitro Express double rifle. I should have brought my .416 Rem Mag, but it was the machine gun shoot.
The recoil varies from bitch slap to push. I caught big hell for not wanting to shoot the .460, but figure it just as bad as my .416. My .416 was built knowing I'd carry it more then shoot. And when shooting it @ game the recoil wouldn't even come to mind unless it detached a retina!
Raffs in 4 Bore!
A .416 Rigby & the .416 Remington are ballistically very similar. The big difference is the length of the actions uses to accommodate case length. Most every Rigby I shot weight 2-3 pounds more then my Remington. my .416 Remington is very hash when compared to my buddies .500 N.E..baboon,
FYI, the PUNISHING RECOIL of my "previous heavy game rifle", a "commercial Mauser" by PARKER-HALE in .416 Rigby Mag is WHY it is my "previous" rifle.
I believe that my 9.3x62MM rifle IS "enough gun" for Cape Buffalo, Lion AND/OR a BIG BEAR.
(I'll NEVER go elephant hunting.)
YES, Pastor Roy is goading me again to come hunting with him in Northern AK.

Your better designed dangerous game rifle tend to be straight walled cases. IMHO straight wall cases are the pushers. The straight wall cases extract & eject way better being low pressure cases. Sure don't want problems when the animal is charging.
Solids are designed for deep penetration. A soft point would have expanded some on the hood, but the engine would have shown about the same damage. The thickness of elephants, rhino, hippos & cape Buffalo hides warrant the use of a solid.Would be more impressed if he had broken more than what looks like a thin cast aluminum valve cover.

I remember a hunting video of a guy shooting a .405 Jefferies on a broadside Cape Buffalo. 1st 3 shoots looked like the passed thru completely. Nothing of the buffalo vitals hit, it just stood there taking rounds.
I thought that you were a Glock Guy.Here’s the result of my test firing my 1911 on a steel plate.
