    Rush, thank you for the reminder. I like to think this will prevent any future incidents for myself, as it will make me be more careful. Thank you for being honest, that is some mighty fine integrity ya got there.

    As much as you seem to play with your gun I am very surprised you haven't shot yourself or someone else by now. A gun is not a toy and the people that worry about such BS as setback are the people that are always playing with their gun every chance they get. If you can't grow up I would suggest you get rid of your gun while it is still up to you and not someone else's decision. You now see how much you have really learned from all your playing. That bullet could have been found between the eyes of one of your loved ones. I would call that setback.

    "As much as you play with your guns"......are you referring to dry fire drills? If so, you have just admitted how ignorant you really are.

    You know absolutely nothing about this man yet you feel that you can come in and slam him over something that you are too blissfully ignorant to understand.

    Every single firearm is loaded until you personally clear it or (verify it is clear with your own hands and eyes).

    That is precisely how I teach my kids the first rule. If they put it down or give it to someone else then I tell them it is now considered loaded again. My son asked once "even if you turn your back for barely one second?" I replied, "Yes!" If you don't make any exceptions to the rule then there won't be any surprises.

    Rush, thanks for posting. I'm going to go home and review the rules with the kids yet again. You cannot be too careful.

    Thanks for the safety reminder, and my condolences to the knob.

    Yeah I think this was an honest story that we will all remember for a while and be double & triple checking. My uncle one time was watching me clean and dry fire pistols after cleaning them. Even though there's no ammo in the cleaning room I racked each slide then went through and did it a second and third time. When I started a 4th time he was like "I think you've got it!" My response was " you wanna explain to your wife, my aunt, about the hole in her wall?"

    Thanks for the humble reminder that we're all human and being so, sometimes we screw up.

    Be safe and shoot straight!

    Sorry that happened bud but, I am very glad you were willing to post it. Just goes to show that one mistake can have dire consequences. Also very happy to see it was only a doorknob that got messed up and not something more irreplaceable. As somebody else said, good shootin'. now don't do it again.

    Glad you posted this(takes cojones to admit to something like this), glad you and your roomie and others were not harmed.

    Now, to the obvious debate;

    If a 9mm can be stopped by a doorknob, HTH do you expect it to stop a deranged madperson aiming to do you harm?!

    ;)
