    Virtue in libertarian fantasyland? Lol

    Here's virtue in today's model...

Democrats steal your money to provide virtuous abortions to teenage girls or hire Marxists to teach your kids.

Republicans steal your money start new virtuous wars or chase down some pot heads.

They BOTH virtuously support their brother in law business buddies with contracts and subsidies paid for by...you guessed it...money they stole from me.

I'll take the Libertarian version please.

    yep.

the pendulum in this country has swung the other way.

once the GOP helps pass amnesty (thinking the hispanics will now vote for them), it's over and finished. Plus, candidates like chris christie and their usual crop of RINO's is going to keep people like myself voting 3rd party.

The idea or hope or anger that Texas is any closer to legalization of pot is false.

"Legalization is no penalty at all, where as decriminalization doesn't necessarily mean jail time (for minor possession offenses.) It means more of a fine or counseling or some sort of program where you don't end up in jail but in a rehabilitative program,” said Lucy Nashed, a spokesman for Perry.

It's about time. Man's arrogance in criminalizing use of a farking plant defies logic, and is nothing more than a device to exercise power over the governed. We learned absolutely nothing from that historical exercise in futility, Prohibition.

    Exactly like cocaine right?

Come on Mate! You know these people didnt read what was actually in the article, just something about pot and thus starts the rants about this or that. lol

But seriously though, no jail time equals no money spent to feed them etc. Now we can pay for their rehabilitative programs that everything will think is ok cause its not jail. In the end, people who actually pay into the system get f'ed either way.

I dont do the crap, I dont GAF if someone does it any more than someone who drinks. It is stupid to think that NOBODY will abuse it...you know, like alcohol. If you cant do it and function, then it isnt for you and you have become a burden. Just my 2 cents.

You all are also missing how much $$ Texas makes off of DWI and drug cases going though our courts and by confiscation of assets.

True story. If they really wanted to reduce drunk driving, bars wouldnt be able to sell more than 1 beer/drink per customer per hour. Because really...outside of college areas how many people walk to and from bars? But but but freedom!

Many people just have a sober driver. That's how we always did it.

Its always been a mystery to me. I know why the gubbermint lets alcohol be legal. People will do it anyway and its a way to suppress discontent in the masses. Yes. Some use it appropriately and put no ones life in danger.

Just super weird to me that bars have parking lots.

What % of people leaving a bar driving are over the legal limit you think?

Id think that cops could just watch people walk (stumble) out of bars and then pull them over for suspicion of DUI.

I bring this up as the libertarian "freedom" argument ends when it affects others. People driving home drunk from bars tonight will affect others.

So why do bars have parking lots?

I need to end my participation in this thread. I know why bars have parking lots. Its just weird and unlike some other freedom such as owning a gun, i wont be sending bullets down the highway tonight like someome will with their car while drunk.

And if I went to a bar tonight I wouldn't be driving home drunk.

Like you, I won't be sending any bullets down the highway either.....but we both have the ability to do that if we chose. And someone will be sending bullets down the highway somewhere, it is proven by the number of street signs with bullet holes and times I've had to go to work in the middle of the night because someone thought certain equipment would make a good target.

Point is, we each make the choice to be responsible in our activities or not. Whether it be drinking, shooting, driving, boating, or anything else we choose to do.

Laws don't make people responsible, they just assign punishing for those who are caught.

If you want to make an impact that actually lasts then work with people to expand youth groups, encourage positive behaviors, and build a culture that's different.

Laws are the easy way out and just highlight our failures as a society.
