they didnt give you trouble about declaring the P365? I assume it was in a locked case locked in your bag?Until last flight to Denver and back, I had been 'randomly selected' for body search (or whatever it's called) every time I'd flown with any member of my family...for the previous 11 years. Literally.
Flying to San Fran w/wife and 2 kids? They sailed through, but I got 'randomly selected.'
Flying to Nyc, Boston, Seattle, Vancouver, LA, Las Vegas...and I think 10 or so more cities... they all go through, but I was pulled aside every single time. Didn't matter if they all went in front, behind, or around me, all 3 went through fine, and I was pulled aside. When I flew alone, never had a problem, never got searched once.
2 weeks ago wife and I flew out of Austin, on Frontier airlines, to Denver. There's a tiny terminal on the other side of the Austin airport... I thought for a minute our Lyft driver was pulling some funny business, or just an idiot... I ddin't know about that terminal. Anyway, checked my bag, with my P365 inside...declared it...figured I'd get patted and maybe probed, as usual.
My wife said I acted butt hurt that they DIDN't 'randomly select' me this time. It was simply shock. Promise.

YES. Take your SS card. My wife and I took FOUR trips to get our licenses. They kept adding more documents we had to show and the last trip they added the SS card as a requirement. Luckily, I had mine and we had a tax document showing my wife's number and they accepted that.Yes, passport will work. I don't have one. When I go back, I'm bringing birth certificate, SS card, military ID, DD214, proof of insurance, anything they might ask for. I'm just glad that next time I should be able to renew on line. I think.
This time I my DL might expire before I receive the certified copy of my birth certificate from the state. Here's another thing. You can go to state agency in Austin and walk out in 10 or 15 minutes with a certified birth certificate in hand.
thats good to know...thxNo trouble, at all. The people at the ticket counter didn't even bat an eye when I checked in. I said, "I have a firearm in a locked TSA approved case inside of this bag," (not actually tsa 'approved,' as such, but it meets their requirements) and the airline lady opened a drawer, handed me a red tag, "firearm inside," and said, 'fill this out and put it in your bag. Signature and date was all it needed.
She then said, "If you'll wait by that door (pointing to a door kind of across from the scanning area) a TSA officer will scan your bag and let you know if they need you to open it for them."
I waited maybe 5 minutes- probably more like 2 or 3. An officer came out, asked if I was "mr williams," and said, "You're good to go, sir. Good job on packing."
Definitely in a locked case... and the case had a steel cable, which I ran behind the down tubes of the extendable handle, then looped around the handle of a second hard case containing my ammo. In order to steal either or both they would have had to either steal my entire suitcase, break the suitcase apart from the carry handle, or cut that cable, and I don't think a normal set of dikes or cable snips would do it.
When I lived in California, I sold a boat and filed the electronic release of liability form on the DMV website to inform the DMV that the vessel was sold and provide them with the new owner's name and address. Five years later, the Franchise Tax Board sent me a letter advising that my state tax refund was being retained to cover delinquent registration fees and penalties on the boat (first state tax refund I'd ever gotten in California). I sent them copies of the release of liability confirmation but they said since the DMV records showed the boat still in my name, they weren't going to release the funds. It took five months to unravel at the DMV and another two months to refile my state taxes and have the refund issued.
The answer to this is yes, if you do it in person. After ordering a copy of my BC on line, back on 16 July, I realized that I probably wouldn't receive it by the time my DL expires at the end of August. So yesterday, I made the trek to the DSHS bureau of vital statistics on 49th Street in Austin. So, do you need to provide your DL to get a birth certificate?
