I like a well-designed and well-made gun regardless of manufacturer. My dad is a 1911 guy so I grew up with Colts. My first handgun purchase at 21 was a Beretta 950 Jetfire, just because I had always wanted a pocket pistol. I do have preferences though. For handguns I like Sig and HK, for rifles - I usually roll my own but like DD and BCM ARs.
Now for shotguns...
That's a different story altogether - Remington 870 all the way. I refuse to buy any other brand or model. I'm already so familiarized with them and I've never had any issues with any of them, so why change?
I have an innate fear of buying a weapon that I won't be able to service myself. I can already do all of my own work on ARs, 1911s, and 870s... so...
