    Helotes!
First and foremost, a loose handgun in a vehicle while driving is a bad idea. As mentioned, if in plain view it is in violation of state laws. Secondly, in case of an accident, it not only becomes a dangerous uncontrolled item; but also it could exit the vehicle and may not be found by first responders. Do you want the liability of losing a firearm because it wasn't properly secured? Be smarter than that.

Secondly, while vehicle mounted holsters are legal as long as the weapon is concealed, I still think they aren't a good idea (especially the magnetic ones). For one, there is the issue of vehicle break-ins. Secondly, while they may seem to be out of sight, in some cases once the door is open they suddenly can be "in plain view" and that will be a problem. And there is always the issue of how well they will secure the firearm in case of an accident. I don't think the magnetic ones will be up to the job, which goes back to my first point.

Lastly, to clarify Renegade's point, here is the corrected version of TxStetson's comment...

It’s really quite simple, if it ain’t in a holster on your shoulder or hip, don’t let it be seen.

Lots of snark with heaping helpings of sanctimony: "No problem, I was not posting for your benefit"

No more sanctimony than his "I'm good".

Why is it, when several people have posted correct info, others feel the need to come in and post incorrect info?

This thread should have been over after post 4.

Thanks, but the word "hip" is not used in the law. Why not just use the actual text of the law and get it right?"

"the handgun is carried in a shoulder or belt holster"

"This thread should have been over after post 4."

Remind me of who compels one to read any of any thread?

    Right, no one.......

Mods make those decisions, not the hoi polloi.

Don't like thread content, what ever can you do?

Right, move on and quit complaining as - you know the rest.

The only one complaining about posts in this thread is you, Perhaps you should follow your own advice and "move on and quit complaining".

    Ah, hypocrisy.

You can complain, but I can't.

What's the old say about the kettle calling the pot ....?

The funny thing is you don't recognize it.

Must be frustrating for you with zero authority to dictate..
