I'm supposed to introduce myself, am told. I'm not much on social media since BBS days, but will give it a try.

Here is my "first" pellet gun. When i was a kid, we used to have bb gun fights in cornfields / barn haylofts, but I was limited to only one pump as most had Red Ryders. Nobody ever put their "eye out", but for luck. My firearm safety awareness has improved a bit since those days.

Boy Scouts is where I fell in love with the .22- I would have done that all day if they let me. My dad gave me a .22 Colteer and I slayed many a soup can with it. Simpler times, for sure.

There have been a few other firearms since then...but you never forget your first. Fan of CZ stuff- Shadow 2 has permanent spot in range bag.

When I was in college in Tucson during mi 80's, I got a job at Oshman's Sporting Goods working the gun counter. Ruger mini 14 Ranch was a big seller.

I've had all sorts of jobs- from washing garbage trucks, dishwasher, CNC operator, Stock Exchange trading floor, mechanic, HVAC, construction, anything computers. I think my next one may be gunsmith, if I find a good spot as I really enjoy slicking the mechanism component. I am getting into the Black Powder revolvers from Italy past few years- I lean towards 'heavy' lately and away from striker stuff. Never have shot a Glock. Someday?

I was involved in Army surplus for awhile- had a bunch of military vehicles I restored- made some good friends with that crowd. We'd take the old vets and had them ride with us in parades, welcome home escorts, etc. Went old-school on this cargo paint job for fun. Wife got tired of living on our own private military base- Google Earth shot of my yard sure was a sight to see. Been downsizing since then with some more to go.

There is one group I'd like to plug that is sorely lacking in Texas: Project Appleseed They have weekend matches all over the Country at public ranges or even private property (hint): They promote civic responsibility through the teaching of colonial history and the American tradition of rifle marksmanship. Big on safety and proper sling usage. Great intro to shooting for new/ youth shooters. Most run a 10/22 for these meets. Fabulous group.

I have relative going into surgery now so may not reply until later tonight. I look forward to getting to some meet-ups to swap stories in person.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Really.

The cargo truck went to a real cool Fireman in Kansas, who drove it back no issue... and the tractor (my fav) is a funny story.

M931, is called, was up on ebay before we moved. I get a question from a soldier in Iraq- said he was active, but would get leave soon to come home. I responded, answered questions, but had fairly low expectations... as it's not a real practical vehicle for most. Well, he gets back to me few weeks later and says: How to send $$- he's coming back in 2-days and wants to drive it from Indiana border to home in So Calif, after quick stop in Wyoming. Like it's a Lexus. That's a lot of suspension, with no load on a truck geared ( or stops?)....60mph tops? Sight-unseen & Solo?? Cajones, my friend.

Well, he paid, flew into some Southern army base for a day- I forget which, flew to Chicago, hopped in a cab (they still have them) and few hours drive out to get his 'new' 20yr-old truck. Well, he was the nicest guy, very relaxed and confident. So we start bs'ing and he tells me he is EOD Bomb disposal and on his 6th stint overseas. He has wife and kids in big 5th wheel and wanted one of these to haul it wherever it needs to go. I asked him if the use robots for disposal and he said no- terrain not conducive or such. I asked if he wears the big bomb suit and he told me no- too hot, hassle. I said: " what, do you just walk up and clip wires"? Many times, that's the way, he said. I didn't think he was pulling my leg, but dang. Either way, tough way to make a buck.

So he did make it across the US, had to fix air dryer purge valve (they get stuck open and hiss while not making enough pressure for air brakes), but otherwise he was good. He did say he was bit sore in the saddle.

MIL shoulder surgery success. now heal / rehab.

    Thanks again all for welcome.

I'm not allowed a motorcycle by spousal decree so I stick to my old Trek mt bike. I did have a Jawa motorcycle at one time that was distinctive but many Hondas over the years. Here is similar Jawa to my old 2-stroke. Jawa was somehow part of CZ at one time.

I wouldn't mind riding again, though...
