My DIL decided to join the military about 12 years ago while dating my son and before they married. She dropped out during bootcamp after constantly whining/crying and it was a separation due to mental problems. As she told, the military said she was never a member and could never state so due to basically quitting bootcamp. I wouldn't consider her having any true mental problems. She was a skinny kid at the time and I could never imagine her having the physical ability to muster bootcamp.
