Why should I hate a gun?
A gun never spoke me an ill word
Or talked behind my back.
A gun never flipped me the bird
Racing by me in the left track.
A gun doesn't turn its back
On a friend in need
A gun doesn't need a heart
Or a soul on which to feed
A gun never punched me in the face
Or kicked me while I'm down
A gun never smeared my name
Never treated me like a clown
A gun has never made me sick
Or left me in the cold
It never has unfriended me
Even as I grow tired and old
A gun has never stole from me
Or failed to share a meal
Often a gun has given just that
A turkey, deer or teal.
My gun stands always at my side
Forever cold, yet brave
To shield me in that hour of need
When my loved ones I must save.
Remember that the Minutemen
could not this country make
Without the guns they held so dear
Our freedom would be at stake.
Lord bless the man that wields a gun
With honor for his cause
We are a nation under God
With justice, peace and laws.
I thank Him twice for the men
that fought and died for me
They waged wars for years on end
To save this right for me.
And thus we must bear the torch
Shine bright for all to see
A gun is the gift we must preserve
To keep our liberty
