Bring bail money. If you're doing this in Austin proper you may need it.

    EDIT: this Smokey Moe's?

If so, why do you insult us by saying "Austin?" Thats Cedar Park boyo! :50cal:
Smokey Moes is a big school supporter. They provide free dinners for sale every year for CPHS's band fundraiser.

The wife especially recommends their smoked chicken.
I didn't say Austin & I didn't say Cedar Park. That was you. I said Seward Junction.
Seward Junction proper is in Liberty Hill but this Smokey Moes is in Seward Junction South - which is actually Leander. Probably 10 miles from BOTW.

Again you're posting a non Austin site for Austin. You're just increasing the number of villagers with torches and pitchforks coming for you. We'll have you know sir that we re all OUTSIDE the Austin Calfironia Quarantine Zone thank you very much. :)

Well, I'm actually just setting a first effort example that I hope that the Austin Lunch Group Gurus (you know who you are) would consider furthering & wherever we eat on 1/1/16, have a TGT scout get preauthorization for a buncha pistol packin gun nuts, er, I mean, firearms enthusiasts to eat there.

MReed, FYI, I stopped at Smokey Mos, US 183 just S of Seward Junction & visited w Gen Mgr Ken. They're open on Jan 1 & he is sympathetic to OC (he took part in an OC demo!!!) & is amenable to such a lunch group as ours. I thanked him & said I'd get back to him later

I'm good with this. I'll do some short follow-up and get rolling!

I imagine the statute will be strictly interpreted. IMO a drop leg does not meet the statute.

Feel free to argue with me, but you asked. ;)

And the better question - is a dropleg really the way to start acclimatizing the public to open carry? In my personal opinion, no. That's just my opinion, though, and not binding on anyone. :)

Any updates on whether or not I can wear a dropleg? It's the only holster I have right now.
Whadaya need in the way of a holster? In the unlikely event that you can't satisfy your curiosity about the drop-leg or acquire an OWB within the next 2 months, perhaps another luncheon attendee could loan something more mainstream & palatable to the unarmed, viewing public for the event. Even if it is black. And plastic. And ugly.

I'll probably buy an OWB, but how is a dropleg "less palatable"?

More tactical. To the ignorant masses, probably more rebel/military looking, and you know they hate anything they are ignorant of.

If it's for your 1911 i have a few dozen. I could loan you one.

I just ordered an Alessi shoulder holster off ebay last night

what would make drop legs not within the statute?

how is a dropleg "less palatable"?

The letter of the law says "belt or shoulder holster."

There's no definition or interpretation past that and, of course, no court cases yet.

Given that a drop-leg is not, by its very name, a belt or shoulder holster, I'd think it's not a legal option.
