From an Leo perspective, yes. Subduing a unruly suspect, animals is a great point, etc., but I'm talking about civilian self defense. Unintended back spray, ineffective against determined attackers, cheap activation switches causing malfunction, etc.

Just what I've heard is all. I've been sprayed by back spray and while it's very painful, I can't say it would be debilitating if I were attacking someone half my size kinda thing (women's defense).

I have actually defused a situation where a guy was threatening me by pulling out OC. I told him one more step and he would get a face full. He continued with his verbal assault, but didn't come closer and departed the area pretty quickly. That was as a "civilian".

You meas as in not a member of a country's armed forces?

Bad guys know OC hurts, regardless of who sprays it.

People are affected by it differently. When I went though the OC certification and got hosed it didn't start really affecting me until I got the redman. After some water washing it out I was back running one of the bags in about 10 minutes. My skin burned but my eyes were good to go.

If it is all you can legally carry, carry the hottest, nastiest , can of "$#@! off!" You can buy.

Also good for four legged pests whilst the S&W is good for two legged ones. If I or my doggies are attacked by a one legged pest, however I guess we are SOL.

Out here in California we're limited to the small cans. I carry a small (2oz) can of FOX labs with a stream nozzle on it. I've still got a larger MKIV can from First Defense from when I worked on the base's Aux. Security Forces floating around here somehwere,.

If you spray a person with OC he is going to either lose the desire to fight or fight at a diminished capacity. It's up to the user to get some training and deploy the OC correctly.

Are there streamers in the small version? When I am walking the Mountain Dog only I carry a little spray on a strap on my wrist like a whistle, but the big streamer when I am walking both.*


*Pro-tip as a dog found out last week if you run up and stand over a fat antisocial wiener dog while its owner and the big dog are distracted by something else, don't put your neck by the wiener dog's snout or it will chomp down like a lion trying to drag down a wildebeast...SURPRISE!!!!

It seems that pugs do the same thing. Latch onto the neck and never let go lol. My mom and dad have pugs. Everyone has done that when a larger dog tried to be aggressive with them. Latch the neck and then get swung around while the larger dog tries to figure out how to get this mini demon off lol

Frat boys on the other hand watch too many tough guy movies and think they will take a spray, lick their lips, and deliver a Steven Segal style ass kicking to the sprayer. Kind of funny when reality, so to speak, hits them in the face.
