I worked for a woman who graduated from West Point and I asked her one day about the training she received. "Oh, West Point is just like a regular college with some marching and physical training thrown in." About 15 years ago, a veteran HPD Sergeant was killed by an illegal felon who was cuffed in his back seat. Story was that he had done a pat-down, but missed the gun. Officer was dead but felon was still trapped in unit and was soon in proper custody.
