Remember the screaming about being armed at colleges and universities? Not many have targeted them for mass shootings in Texas since, that I've heard.

You are 100% correct. This law has been so strong, that not only have there not been any in Texas since 2015 when it went into effect, but there haven't been many in the country. In fact, the law was so powerful as to being largely retroactive. There weren't many mass shootings on Texas college campuses before 2015. 1966 looks like the last one.

The teachers I know, and I only know women teachers, would not carry and even if they had a gun in hand would die before shooting a bad guy(girl). Maybe it's something ingrained and also why they are teachers. Just assuming that armed teachers would make a difference is an assumption that may not be true.
Nobody is arguing in forcing teachers and employees to be armed. The point is, that if they should feel the need to be armed, they should be allowed to be armed.

Also, if word gets out that teachers and employees are allowed to be armed, many may think twice about shooting up a school.

While they may have an armed guard or two, the unknown amount of arms could also be a deterrent. As it is now "Gun Free Zone" screams soft target.

Those signs really should be required to say "Defensive Arms Free Zone" for accuracy's sake.

And I think That may be the best we can hope for.

Some of y'all are Letting good become the enemy Of perfect.

I don't think anyone has suggested some kind of teacher posse to hunt down a shooter. Just give them and the other staff members the option of being able to shoot back.

If that janitor in Nashville had been so inclined and had been armed, he might have been able to stop the creature from going on its killing spree. He might not have come out unscathed, he might even have failed, but it would've been a better chance than being unarmed and gunned down as he was.

And if he'd had the opportunity, but had chosen to be unarmed as he was in the real world? Well, nothing worse than what we currently have would have come of it.

Absolutely! I'm no gunslinger believing no harm can come to me. All I want is a fighting chance, and am satisfied in knowing I have that. The scariest thing to me would be in knowing I would be helpless in seeing others gunned down.

Yeah. I don't understand the mindset of people choosing victimhood for themselves or (even worse) other people should the worst happen.

To hell with that. If I'm in someone's sights, I want the opportunity to fight back. I might die, but I want a chance of taking that murderer with me. And hell, maybe I'll survive...but unarmed? Neither outcome is likely - I'd just be one more corpse.

Agree completely but yet there are people that would die before defending their own lives. I would like to see a survey about percentage of teachers with LTC. I think most are anti 2A just from the teachers I know.

That's almost guaranteed. I'd be surprised if more than 25% of teachers and school administrators even understand that the Second Amendment doesn't give us any rights at all - it restricts government. The teaching profession is so hard left they don't even teach that socialism is a failed system anymore, or that communism is responsible for more human misery and death than even the Nazis could have dreamed.

But there's that small percentage. And sometimes all it takes to prevent a tragedy is one person who won't be a victim.

My wife might hesitate to shoot to protect herself, but protecting her University students would be like a Momma Bear protecting her cubs. I think most teachers would be the same.

While I call myself an instructor, it's mainly another word for teacher (faculty). I have been armed at work since I was able (nearly 5 years now). Even I couldn't tell you how many are armed here, because I can't ask. (Kind of a "don't ask, don't tell" thing)

I believe there are less armed than there are unarmed, but then there are some that I believe probably shouldn't, but armed or unarmed, they are both rights.

The thing is, I'm pretty sure the campus is much more hardened than in the past, and I'm comfortable with that.

While I haven't heard from students against campus carry, I have heard from several for it.
