Having just won a new stripped upper, I'm ready for you Jackals to steer me right. Here's the link:https://www.cmttac.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=124
I'm thinking about an AR10 with darn good down range precision. So, start the info coming. I'll probably buy one of their lowers because it's a very high probability they'd match well. Pretty much stuck on a Volquartsen trigger group.

Barrels? Twist rates? Hardware? I've always wanted a .308 and this is just a kick in the pants. Budget ~$1k.

Bad news Robert. That upper is not compatible with an AR 10 platform.

You have many good cartridge options available for your build but the .308 case based rounds are not some of them.

You can go 300BO, 6.8 SPC, 6.5 Grendel, one of the .45 caliber rounds, .50 caliber, or a pile of less common rounds.

There are a million ways to go.

What is your end goal for the build? Long range, short and quick, best suppressed, cheap to shoot, most power?

Give us a few ideas and we will be glad to help.

Honestly, reload7ng for a semi auto rifle saves a bunch on ammo, but loading times are extended.

But precision shooting is a different deal.

You should do a 6.5Grendel and then get sick of it and sell it to me for cheap. J/K

As for triggers, even my cheapo builds get a Geissele. 100% reliable and a good feel.

I've got all the AR tools you'll need. You're more than welcome to come up here and use my stuff. And trust me, I've got enough spare parts lying around to build another one.

Dang, wish I had a need for a pressure transducer. LOL

I would stick with 223. Don't skimp on barrel, or trigger, or bolt. I would check out rainier arms barrels, in my opinion, they have some of the most accurate barrels on the market for the best value, too. ALG also makes a great trigger. DO NOT try giving an AR trigger a trigger job unless you are a talented smith.
